Chapter 63 ⚜ In My Time of Dying

In Dean's hospital room, John sits silently watching Dean and I sit back silent. Until I hear a voice, What is that? I see something pass quickly, something transparent "Have you seen this?"

John turns to me "What?"

I shake my head "Nothing I think I am imagining"

In John's room, Sam stalks into the room with a duffel bag. I sit on the couch watching between them. John says "You're quiet"

Sam turns fuming and hurls the bag onto the bed with a crash "Did you think I wouldn't find out?"

"What are you talking about?"

"That stuff from Bobby, you don't use it to ward off a demon, you use it to summon one. You're planning on bringing the demon here, aren't you? Having some stupid macho showdown?!"

I look at John surprised.

John gives him a look "I have a plan, Sam"

I give him a look "Excuse me it's not a plan it's suicide"

Sam says "That's exactly my point! Dean is dying, and you have a plan! You know what, you care more about killing this demon than you do saving your own son!"

John says "Do not tell me how I feel! I am doing this for Dean"

I groan Oh my god here we go again.

"How? How is revenge going to help him? You're not thinking about anybody but yourself, it's the same selfish obsession!"

"You know, it's funny, I thought it was your obsession too! This demon killed your mother, killed your girlfriend. You begged me to be part of this hunt. Now if you'd killed that damn thing when you had the chance, none of this would have happened"

"It was possessing you, Dad, I would have killed you too"

"Yeah, and your brother would be awake right now"

I try to stop them "Something with us"

Sam to his father "Go to hell"

I stand "Guys listen to me something is wrong"

They Didn't listen to me. John says "I should have never taken you along in the first place. I knew it was a mistake, I knew I was wrong__"

A glass of water off the table and goes flying, crashing to the floor. We look at each other for a beat confused but we catch with our eyes that nurses and doctors start running by in the hallway.

I ask "What is it?"

"Something's going on out there" John jerks his head indicating and turns to us "Go find out"

In Dean's room, Monitors are beeping, and a doctor and some nurses are surrounding Dean, resuscitating him. Doctor turns to the nurse "All clear"

Sam huddling in the doorway, tears in his eyes "No"

I'm with tears in my eyes "No Dean Please. Not again"

The nurse says "Still no pulse"

The doctor says "Okay, let's go again, 360"

"Charging"

Sam's face in the doorway crying and fidgeting and he hugs me. I say "He will be fine He can't leave us, Sam" Sam blinks and looks confused as if he's heard something. The monitors are slow and quiet.

The nurse says "We have a pulse. We're back into sinus rhythm"

I smile "I told you he is a fighter" Sam sighs in relief and backs into the hallway, watching from there. Sam looks over to nothing confused "Sam are you okay?"
