Chapter 10

We arrived at area, parked the car, went up a couple flights of stairs and entered Jon’s apartment.

“Feel free to doanything you want, I’ll just prepare our dinner” Jon suggested walking into the kitchen.

 “do you want us to help you with that?” I asked. I’m not good at cooking but I can help chopping and slicing. “No, its fine I can handle it, besides Kae has something she’s been meaning to tell you” he replied as he glanced at Kae and gave her a wink.

Kae grabbed me by the hand and pulled me to seat with her on the sofa. “So what’s this very exciting news you’re about to tell me” I started rolling my eyes.

“Well” she started and glanced to the Jon again smiling to each other. She pulled out her left hand showing me a ring, I had to blink a couple of times and look at what she’s showing. “We’re engaged!” she shrieked.

“I can’t believe this, oh my god, I’m so happy for you... for both you” I half shouted with glee as I gave her a hug. “When did he propose?” I asked. “Two months ago” she answered.

“It was so amazing, he took me to this wonderful restaurant for dinner, then we went to have a walk on the nearby lake with only the moon as our light, I thought we were just having a heart to heart talk and a peaceful walk, when suddenly lights started to turn on, it was like a runway with fireflies lining it. He went ahead and followed the trail, I stood there for a moment till I started to follow him when I realize his out of my sight. As I was nearing the dock, I saw him standing there and all the lit candles floating on the lake. I went to ask him what is going on, and then I saw what those floating candles were. It spelled ‘Kae Will You Marry Me?’, then Jon bend on one knee and brought the box containing this ring”. She explained with her face radiating with joy.

“Then of course I said yes and here we are” she continued. I was amazed on how romantic it was, which made me wonder went would be my turn, I mean when will I find the ‘love-of-my-life’ too.

“Wow that is brilliant and wonderful, great job Jon” I said to Jon as he came to check on us. “It was worth the work for this amazing lady here” he said as he kissed Kae on the lips.

“So tell be about this guy you mentioned before” Kae continued. “Oh him” I said with a hint of anger as I was reminded oh what happened.

Jon went back to finish what his doing, but still listened to our conversation and Kae went to grab some drinks before I start to tell her the story.

I met this guy in college, it was during our second year. We both have anatomy and physiology class together, he was seated beside me that time. I didn’t mind him at first since I’m concentrating on the subject, the subject is both fascinating and brain pounding at the same time. We were given a task to draw the full skeletal system of the body with labels and a bit of description. The instructor decided to make as work as a pair since he was asking for a large portrait at least 30 by 60 inches in size. I end up partnering with this guy. I think his name is Beau, somehow I find that name really cute. We started working on our task but unable to finish in time, so our instructor gave as all an extension, so we have one night to finish it.

He asked me to come to his dorm to finish the project and I agreed. We went to his room and laid all the materials to work with. I asked him if it is fine for his roommate that we do this in their room, he just shrugged and said that his roommate is cool with it.

As we continue to do the project, we also talked about other things, about ourselves and what we do. The night progresses and so is our conversation. I found that his bisexual, he’s a member of the swim team, he is a smart but carefree person, and like almost half of the things I like. 

We both have an eye for each other after that night so we continued to see each other and we dated for a month, I almost thought he could be the one. Then one night things went downhill, he wanted us to have sex, but I wasn’t ready yet. He kept on insisting we do it and I kept brushing it off. The relationship went cold, and always ended up in an argument.

We had a big argument one time and he decided to go to a party to cool off. I thought apologizing and that maybe he loves me that much he wanted to bring our relationship to the next level, so I went to look for him at the party. I asked a couple of his friends where he could be found. One of the guys told me he was recently talking to someone and headed upstairs. I went upstairs and knocked on the first door.

I opened the door and saw him with another girl on top of him swapping saliva and they were both naked. He noticed me by the door and pushed the girl on top of him, covered his junk and tried to explain.

I walk out not listening to his idiotic excuse, he followed me until we reached the door, people were staring at us, and out of anger I just punched him in the face and went back to my room sobbing.

The next day he tried to talk to me but I didn’t acknowledge his presence and just ignore him until he gave up. Since then we never talked to each other and seated on either side of the class until the semester was over.

“that’s sucks, and he’s a total jackass” Kae finally said after I told her everything. “So yeah, since then I never wanted any more relationship, I concentrated on my studies instead” I sighed.

“I’m sorry man” Jon said patting me on the back, “it’s already been forgotten” I responded.

“Alright then, dinner is ready” he cheered and Kae jump of the couch like a little kid “Jon cooks very well, that’s why I let him cook most of the time” she laughed.

“It’s because you can’t cook” I told Kae, “that’s true” Jon laughed. “Hey I can cook” Kae pouted.

“Yeah just boiling and frying, you burnt an egg once” Jon continued.

“that was one time” Kae cried. “whatever you say babe” Jon said hugging Kae

“Anyway let’s eat, I’m so hungry” Kae whined.

We ate dinner and to my surprise Jon can really cook. We continued our chitchat till it was ten then I decided I should go home and face my sister, so they both offered to drop me by.
