We all know how freaking crazy some fanfiction is.
And if you don't know, you're lucky to have evaded all of it. Teach me your ways.
There is some really good fanfiction on here, however that is rare. Mostly why I don't read fanfiction unless it's a show/youtuber/whatever thing I'm really into and interested in. I also am afraid to read fanfiction of a show I haven't completely finished, because it's freaking spoiler central.
Note- Youtube comments are spoiler central as well. Beware.
Seriously, everything I watch on YouTube is filled with spoilers, whether in the actual video or the comments section. I can't even look at comments on a lyric video or music video because all I see is-
"O dis sawng iz so sahd. It remindez me of- *insert major spoiler for a show I was going to watch but it is now pointless because I have seen the entire show through spoilers.*
I don't understand why they can't freakin' keep it to themselves until they can tell someone who they know has watched the entire show. OR AT LEAST WARN US FIRST!!!
Okay, I'm off track now.
It makes me so angry whenever I read fanfictions, and some characters are nothing like their personalities in real life, or a show, book, etc.
Of course, none of us can truly and completely know we are giving the character the exact personality they usually have, because we didn't create them. We don't know exactly what they would say and things like that, etc. Luckily, we can come close. (Well, some of us can, as I've found.) This is why I sometimes prefer writing original stories over fanfiction, but fanfiction is easier for me to like because if I'm reading it, that means I'm in that fandom and already know and love the characters, therefore I'm more likely to read it. It also makes it tons easier to imagine since I already know what they look like.
It's also comforting to know that others love the same thing you do and it reminds me that there's a whole fanbase. I always forget I'm not the only one that's ever watched it since I'm practically in that world. I love talking to people about shows, books, etc. I'm always afraid of spoilers though.
I'll read a fanfiction of something and some people are crazy and think that characters are the exact opposite of what they really are.
Say you are in a fandom where there is a guy that is a murderer, rapist, liar, criminal, evil, (E.very V.illian I.s L.emons) and all that shiz. Of course, there will be some psycho fangirls that write them to be the sweetest, most kind character ever, or they'll write it so they're awful to everyone else, but turn into the kindest most gentle person ever around the protagonist, and the protagonist is really, really oblivious and stupid, or in extreme denial, or both. No, that'd never happen. If someone hated every other human being, why would they like you?
This is seriously how people see some characters apparently.
Actual Personality Traits Of Character: Evil, hates children, rapist, murderer, criminal, hateful, selfish, insane, junkie, serial killer, cannibal. What Personality Traits Extremely Stupid People Think Applies To The Same Character: Kind, nice, helpful, attractive, hero, romantic, caring, shy, cute, angelic, generous, amazing, aweso- Okay, you get the point.
Example: (I'll put a translation after it, also some parts aren't good for kids to read, so I'd suggest not to read it in front of younger siblings or parent- actually, nevermind, no one reads or cares about warnings like that anyway!)
