Asuma sits in front of team 10 as their backs are against the wall. In front of Asuma lays a box of 3 pair of earrings.
"Congratulations Choji, and Ino for becoming Chunin. Well done. Since Shikamaru passed last time. That means all the members of team 10 are now officially Chunin."
"These earrings in front of me are my gift to you to celebrate your success. Whatever the future hold. Never forget you were members of squad ten" Asuma says giving a closed eyed smile to them.
Instead of celebrating everyone stays quiet caught off guard from his response. He can feel the slight discomfort and tension in the room.
"Not everyone sensei.." Ino says softly. The room goes quiet.
"There should have been another pair..." Choji adds on.
Asuma burns out his cigarette in front of them and clasps his hands together. He looks over to Shikamaru placing his hands into his pocket not saying a word.
Asuma can't help but smile before pulling out another box. A small box soon unveiling the 4th pair of earrings.
"You still carry them!?" Ino says widening her eyes!
"There's not a single day I don't carry them with me." Placing it on the table.
Choji swallowed hard.
"It doesn't feel real."
Shikanaru leans against the wall "it's been over a year huh?"
"There's a little part of me thinking she'll come one day and I could hand her these..." he takes the box back before placing it in his pocket.
"She would've been insufferably proud today."
A small laugh escapes from Ino through her tears.
"She would've bragged for weeks."
"What do you mean she bragged about becoming a chunin for weeks" Shikamaru managing a faint smile.
"And would've challenged us to a duel to test our skill" Choi adds on with a smile.
The smiled disappeared as quickly as it came.
Asuma looks at all three of them "you've honored her memory."
"She would be furious if today became about her mourning.." Shikamaru says placing each of his hands onto their nearest shoulder .
"Of course she would. She would've told us to celebrate. For all four of team 10 for her."
"I know very well how much she deserved these." Soon the guys in team 10 felt somewhat relieved to talk it out.

~~ couple days later~~
3rd pov
Tsunade sitting down in her office as team 10 along team 7 stand across from her. The room is quiet. Shikamaru, Ino, Choji, Kakashi, Naruto, Sakura, Sai, and Yamato stand before the Hokage. Dirt and dried blood still cling to their uniforms.
Tsunade crosses her arms "report."
"Both Hidan and Kakuzu are dead.."
Tsunade nods once "casualties?"
"None" Kakashi responds.
She pauses for a moment "and her?"
Shikamaru lowers his eyes.
