*Matt's POV*

I walked downstairs after waking Makayla and I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw I had a text message.

From: James

Hey mate how'd you guys hold up during the storm. Our house flooded out and is nearly destroyed. But we're in a shelter and we're safe.

Wow the storm was really bad. I sighed and texted him back quickly.

To James:

We're fine! I can't believe it. If you need anything just tell me mate.

When I had finally reached the bottom of the stairs my phone vibrated again. I pulled it out expecting it was James but it wasn't which surprised me.

From Liam:

Did you get flooded?

To Liam:

Nope! Why?

From Liam:

Just wondering.

To Liam:

James got flooded, the family is in a shelter. There are a few people missing but not people we know. How about you?

From Liam:

My house is fine. Hey, do you think I could come over? I kinda need a man-to-man talk and my dad doesn't really help.

Man-to-man advice? That's something I'm okay at I guess. Not only that but I really liked Liam he was cool and funny. He also had a sense of protection that I liked. Makayla seemed to also take a liking to him; which I didn't mind at all. Makayla needed friends even if they were mine.

To Liam:

I guess. My road isn't closed but it maybe better to walk, trees are down… and if you can't get back home you're always welcome to stay.

From Liam:

Thanks! I'll be there soon. I'll probably stay anyways.

I pocketed my phone and went to the kitchen. I quickly took out some eggs and bacon and quickly put them back so they would stay cold until the power came back. I heard some footsteps from the stairs when I was nearly done cooking. Makayla walked tiredly into the kitchen still wearing her pajamas with her hair in a messy bun and light and I mean very light makeup on. Her once vibrant blue eyes were still covered by a haunting grey. Maybe her eyes just changed since we were younger. She was still beautiful though and has been looking a lot like Mum day after day with sprinkles of our father as well.

I smiled slightly at her thinking about when we were younger. Then that day popped into my mind once again.
