The laptop screen glowed softly in the quiet living room as Ishan sat cross-legged on the couch, scrolling through yet another list of job openings. The cursor moved steadily from one application to another, carefully filling details, attaching resumes, and hitting Submit.
His previous job offer had been in Bangalore, but this time he didn't even glance at opportunities outside Delhi. His mind was already made up.
A cup of coffee appeared beside the laptop before he even noticed.
"Lo."
Ishan looked up to find Yashaswi standing there with two steaming mugs. He accepted one with a grateful smile as Yashaswi settled beside him.
For a few moments, only the sound of keyboard clicks filled the room.
Yashaswi peeked at the screen and pouted.
"Tum to aate hi job dhoondhne lage."
Ishan laughed quietly, taking a sip before replying.
"Yash... humein job chahiye Delhi mein."
He clicked on another opening.
"...Apni shaadi bhi karvani hai."
"Haan... jaldi peeche chhudana hai."
Ishan shook his head.
"Aisa nahi hai..."
He looked back at the screen, but the corners of his lips refused to straighten.
"Mujhe bas ab usje saath rehna hai.. you know.. jab aapka koii most favorite hota hai.. it doesn't change anything between others me and you too...
Par.. ye special someone theory is so real.. "
" Abhi bahut saare sapne poore karne hai.. mujhe aur Shubi-Shubman ko..
Uske liye paise to lagenge naaaa.. "
Yashaswi smiled silently.
"Mil jayegi job," Yashaswi said confidently. "Tum tension mat lo."
Ishan nodded.
"Dhundni hi padegi."
---
By evening, both of them stepped out of Yashaswi's house.
The Delhi breeze carried familiar sounds-vendors shouting, distant honks, children laughing in narrow lanes, the smell of roadside chai mixing with fresh rain on concrete.
Ishan walked slowly, hands tucked inside his pockets.
He looked around like someone revisiting an old photograph.
"Kaafi badal gaya..." he murmured.
Yashaswi glanced at him.
Ishan smiled faintly.
"Kaafi kuch waise hi bhi hai."
The familiar streets pulled memories from four years ago. Places where he had laughed, fought, dreamed...
Everything felt both different and strangely comforting.
His phone vibrated inside his pocket.
The moment he saw the name on the screen-
"Shubiiiiiiiiiiiii ❤️"
Ishan's face instantly lit up.
Without wasting another second, he picked up the call.
"Aa gayi yaad...?" Shubman's cheerful voice came immediately, carrying that familiar teasing tone.
Ishan laughed under his breath.
"Ho gayi tayyari?"
A dramatic sigh came from the other side.
