Ch 100

Ishan stared at the joining letter in his hands for what felt like a full minute.

His name was printed clearly across the page.

He had actually done it.

After all the uncertainty, all the applications, all the waiting and worrying, he finally had a job in Delhi.

A small, proud smile appeared on his face as he read through the letter one more time. He couldn't help imagining Shubman's reaction.

He would probably scream first, then tell everyone he knew, then somehow make the entire thing about how his fiancé was the most talented person alive, Ishan fixed the oversized kadha once again.

Now even his muscle remember that weight and slight looseness.

Ishan smiled at the thought.

He immediately picked up his phone.

He wanted Shubman to be the first person he told.

The call rang.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

No answer.

Ishan's smile slowly disappeared.

He frowned at the screen.

That was strange.

Shubman never ignored his calls.

Not once.

Even when he was busy, he would answer eventually. Even if he couldn't talk, he would send some ridiculous message like "abhi thodi der mein aayenge aapki madhur awaaz ka anand lene.. ye zalim duniya ne hume fir rok liya hai."

Ishan called again.

This time, after several rings, the call finally connected.

"Hello?"

Ishan froze.

That wasn't Shubman's voice.

It was a woman's voice.

A slightly rough, tired-sounding voice.

Ishan's eyebrows immediately pulled together.

"Aap kaun?"

There was a short pause on the other end.

"Main?"

The woman sounded equally confused.

"Main manager hoon."

Then, almost defensively, she added,

"Ladki bhi hoon. Ab tum kaun?"

Ishan blinked.

Manager?

"Oh..."

He tried to sound casual.

"Aap Shubi-Shubman ki manager ho?"

"Haan haan, wahi."

She sounded busy.

"Kya chahiye?"

Ishan stared at the phone.

What do I want?

He wanted his boyfriend to answer his phone. His fiancé. His soon-to-be husband. He wanted to tell him that he had finally received his joining letter.

He wanted to hear Shubman's ridiculous excited voice.

He wanted to hear him say, "Mujhe pata tha tu kar lega."
