"Hey, Sophie. Where were you? Making out with your mom?" Taylor snorted at me. I just ignored it.
"That wasn't very nice." I heard.
"Well, she is a lesbian. Aren't you, Sophie?"
The bell rang, saving me from answering that question. I'm not a lesbian, don't worry. But everyone thinks I am.
I walked out of the classroom and went to my locker. I opened it and someone stopped at my locker. It was Taylor.
"Hey, you didn't answer my question. Aren't you, Sophie?"
I just ignored it. I was used to it. It took about a month of getting used to. One day, I'd reach my breaking point. But I'm not going to yet.
"Taylor, knock it off." Jason said and stopped at my locker.
"Oh, baby. You know I was just kidding. Let's go to class." She said and batted her eyelashes. She's had a crush on Jason for as long as I could remember.
"No, I'm going to walk Sophie to class." He said as I shut my locker. She raised her eyebrows and we walked away. She stomped her foot and strutted off to the bathroom.
"So, what's your next class?" Jason asked me.
"Spanish." I said, cautiously.
"Oh, what room?"
"C-12."
"Right next to mine. I'll walk you there." I recognized his voice. He was the one that said that it wasn't very nice in English before.
"Okay, thanks." I said and smiled at him.
"So, where exactly were you this morning?"
"I- I was taking care of... family things." I winced at the word 'family.' I didn't exactly have a 'family.' All I had related to me was my dad. And he does not match the definition of family.
"Oh." He said. "Well, I'm sorry about what Taylor said. She's a b*tch anyway."
"Yeah, I know. I don't know why she gives me such a hard time all the time."
We got to C-12 and Jason stopped me at the door.
"I'll pick you up after class." He said and smiled his stunning crooked, but perfect, smile. I couldn't help but return the smile.
"Thanks."
I walked into class and took my seat in the back corner of the room. Taylor snickered at me.
"What's on your arm? Are you emo!?" She teased. In reaction, I quickly covered up my cut.
"No." I mumbled under my breath.
"¡Hola, clase! ¿Como estás?" Mrs. Olivara said when she walked in.
(translation: hi, class. how are you?)
I daydreamed the whole class. I knew all of this stuff anyway. I was surprised when the bell rang. I quickly walked out of the room, unnoticed.
As promised, Jason was waiting at the door.
