She Will Be Loved

Chapter 12

"Jaysiee!" A little girl about 4 years old ran up to Jason and he scooped her up.

"Hi, Lilly!" He turned to me. "This is Sophie. Can you say hi?"

"Hi, Sophie!" She said and giggled into Jason's neck.

"Hi!" I smiled at her.

"She's my little sister." He explained while putting Lilly down. We walked into the room more and saw his grandma. She was a tiny little thing. Her eyes got big when she saw me.

"Anna Rosewood!?" She said excitedly. 

Jason looked at me with a questioning look on his face.

"No...I'm her daughter. H-How do you know her?"

"I used to know her mother and I helped raise Anna. Wow. You look just like her. Beautiful." She whispered the last word.

"Thanks." I was confused.

"I'm going to take Lilly to get a cookie. You guys can talk." He caught on to the fact that I wanted to talk to her.

"Alright. Bye." I said to him and sat next to his grandma.

"D-Do you know where she is?"

"Why, yes. Don't you?"

"Where is she?"

"She went off to Paris with someone named Meredith."

Meredith. Ryan's mom. They were best friends even before Ryan and I met.

"Wow." I said. "How could I be so stupid?" I whispered to myself. "Do you know why she left?" I asked his grandma.

"She said it was family problems."

"Is she still alive?"

"Gosh, I don't know. I heard she passed away 2 years ago. But you never know."

"She's dead?" I mumbled quietly. Tears welled up in my eyes, but they didn't fall. I blinked them back when Jason came back with Lilly.

"Hi, honey." His grandma said and smiled. We sat and talked for a little bit.

"Your girlfriend is very beautiful." She whispered to Jason, but I heard anyway.

"Grandma, she's not my girlfriend." He said to her. It was true. I wasn't his girlfriend. But I had a strange feeling that I would be soon.

"Well, what are you waiting for?" She asked with big eyes. "She's beautiful. Someone will steal her away from you."
