"Put me down!" I squealed, laughing. I was hoisted on Jason's shoulder and he was taking me into the water. We plunged in the water together and laughed when we came up. He leaned foward and took my face in his hands. He kissed me. And it wasn't just a peck. It was a nice kiss. When we pulled away, he smiled his crooked smile and I smiled back at him.
"Damn."
"What?" I laughed.
"You're gorgeous and a good kisser. Any other hidden talents?"
I pushed him away from me and smiled.
"I can also swim." I ducked under water and swam away as fast as I could.
"Catch me if you can!" I shouted when I came up for air. I swam to shore and waited for Jason. He was taking a while. He came up for a breath and I pretended to look at an imaginary watch. I faked a yawn.
"Don't have all day!"
"Oh please. Where are you in a rush to?" He walked over to me and pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back. I was starting to get tired. Jason noticed when I yawned. I was also hungry.
"Do you want to go to lunch? To the shack?" He pointed to the stand.
"Yeah."
He took my hand and walked to the shack. It was filled with people in bathing suits, sunburned with sand covering their wet bodies.
"What do you want to get?"
"I'll just get a hot dog." I said. The waitress came over and I ordered. He ordered a cheeseburger and we got French fries.
"Anything to drink?" She asked, smiling a friendly smile.
"Actually, can I have a chocolate milk shake?" I asked.
"Of course!" She said cheerfully.
"I'll have the strawberry shake." Jason said. I smiled back at the waitress.
"Coming right up!"
She walked away and we talked. We talked until she came back with our food.
"Bon apetit." He smiled at me. I returned the smile and we started eating. Eating, talking, eating, talking. We finished and kept on talking. The waitress came over and gave us our reciept.
"I'm just going to go to the bathroom." Jason said and walked away. I nodded and put the garbage on one plate. Taylor came up and sat across from me. She smiled sweetly.
"Hi, Sophie." She said.
"Hi, Taylor!" I tried to lighten the mood. She was acting strange.
"I heard you're dating Jason."
I nodded. "Yep, I am." I smiled at her. She smiled sarcastically.
"Do you know how long I've liked him?" She asked, shrugging her shoulders. "Just out of curiousity."
"Hmm... no, I don't." I thought for a minute.
"Let's see. 3 years." My eyes got a little big, but not very noticable. "Yeah. 3 years. And I still like him. You know what that means?"
"What?"
"I'm going to fight for him until he's mine." She said and smiled.
"Alright. Good luck with that." I narrowed my eyes.
She threw her head back and laughed. When she brought it down, there were tears in her eyes from laughing so hard.
"If there's something you should know about me, it's that I always get my way." She said, admiring her freshly painted nails. She blew me a kiss.
"Toodles!" She walked away and Jason came back.
"What did she have to say?"
"Nothing. Can we just go?"
"Yeah." He said. We payed and left. When we got back to my house, I was tired.
"What do you want to do?" Jason asked. "We still have an hour and a half until we pick up your dad."
"Hmm. Can we watch a movie or something?"
"Yeah." We looked through the movie channels and found August Rush. We decided to watch it. Half way into the movie, the doorbell rang.
"I got it." Jason got up and went to get it. He called out to me.
"Sophie, it's for you." He passed me as I got up.
"Who is it?"
"I dunno." He shrugged. I walked to the door.
"Keep the movie paused." I shouted over my shoulder. I checked to see who was at the door.
"Hi, Sophie." A guy said before hesitating. Oh my God.
"R-Ryan?"
