Chapter Nineteen

Maya POV

~the next day~

My hands were trembling as they shakily opened up my locker and got my books.

Once I closed my locker, Riley comes by and 'accidently' pushes me against the lockers.

"Watch where you're going Maya." She said, words laced with venom and emphasized my name.

Before I could respond, she strutted away towards Mr. Matthews class.

I started walking to the class as well but slowly.

I didn't want Riley to see me right after.

The bell rang and I still wasn't in class.

I didn't even feel like going.

I go back to my locker.

I open it up again and shove all my stuff inside.

As I was walking out the door, a familiar body grabs hold of my wrist and drags me out quickly.

It was none other then the Lucas Friar.

"What do you want Lucas?" I ask in a small voice.

We arrive at the park.

"Maya, why aren't you in class?" He asks calmly.

"Why aren't you?" I fire back.

"Answer my question first pancakes."

I cringe a little at the nickname.

"I had a little run-in with Riley. Your turn.

"Didn't feel like it."

"Wow. Grat excuse." I say sarcastically while rolling my eyes.

"I know right." He replies with the same amount of sarcasm.

We sit there at the park talking casually.

It felt amazing just to finally talk to someone who wont bully me or insult.

We were walking back to my house when I heard a familiar voice.

"Maya?"
