I went to my school and picked up some homework I missed while I was out, left, and went to pick up Luke. Then, I headed towards our house. "Kaylee called and said she would move in," Liltih said as I entered. "Do we need to pick her up at the airport?" I asked. Lilith shook her head, "She's driving here from Washington." I nodded. I went up to my room and sat down. Well, might as well work on the homework. Every since the funeral two weeks ago, Lilith and I stopped attending school. We were taking time to recover. I'd known Jack since the 3rd grade when I was new and and didn't want any friends. He forced his way into my life.
~~Flashback~~
I walked through the hallways through my new school with an older student guiding me. We walked into my classroom. The teacher had me come to the front and introduce myself. "What's your name?" The teacher asked. "Rebecca." She nodded, "And what do you like to do in your free time?" She asked. "Draw with my dad," I answered. She nodded, yet again. "Okay, go sit next to Jack," she said. Jack raised his hand and I walked over and sat next to him. "Hello." He said. I ignored him. I didn't want friends. I wanted to go back to New York, in the city. Not out in the middle of nowhere. He tried starting a conversation with me but failed. He gave up.
The next few days were like that, he tried talking to me, I ignored him and he giving up before lunch. Till one day, he didn't. During lunch, I was reading and he sat next to me. "Why won't you answer me during class?" He asked. I shrugged. He sighed. "What are you reading?" He asked. I showed him the title. "'The Adoration of Jenna Fox' I read that books. Its pretty good. I'm looking for the second book," He said. I had become interested. "Really? I've read the series twice now. I own the books. If you want, you can borrow the second one," I offered, hoping that offer would get him to leave. It didn't. We actually continued the conversation after he asked me what other books I liked to read. That was the start of our friendship.
~~End of Flashback~~
I teared up at remembering that. I got up and walked towards my bookshelf. The bookshelf contained many books. I ran along my finger along the books, and stopped at one in particular. I pulled it out, the familiar blue butterfly on the cover, with the words 'The Adoration of Jenna Fox' running througb the middle of the butterfly. I walked back towards my bed, opened the book and started reading.
