Lydia was panicking.
She paced back in forth, her banshee senses going crazy. And to make things even worse, her daughter, Allison, was walking home today from school for the first time. Alone. And it had already been 20 minutes-20 minutes since school got out!
Seeing as the new couple had only had their daughter 8 years ago, Lydia was still on her feet about every little thing. Stiles, of course, was still very protective due to all their supernatural experiences, but didn't get stressed over the little things like allisons new shoes or a play date with Kira and Scott's son- Lydia was determined that they will be married in the future. Are post pregnancy hormones a thing?
But, of course, Lydia was pulling her hair out of the thought that her daughter hadn't been home in 20 minutes. The elementary school was only 4 minutes by walking away from Lydia and Stiles' quaint little cottage nestled into the downtown area of Beacon Hills.
When Lydia and Stiles had decided to buy a house after the started dating right after high school, Stiles was extremely opposed to staying in Beacon hills. Too many bad memories had happened there, and Stiles wanted to keep his little and growing family out of danger. But Lydia didn't want to give her little town away. She didn't want to abandon the sandbox at Beacon Hills Elementary where Stiles and Lydia first met- speaking of the school, where the hell is Allison?
"Stiles, I know that something is wrong. I can just feel it? Go grab the record player or something, I know that something is wrong." The strawberry blonde stressed, combing her hair with her fingers vigorously. "Lydia, relax. Maybe she's just hanging out with Alex, they seem to be hitting it off like you want it too.." Stiles said, wiggling his eye brows in attempt to lighten the mood. But, Lydia still did not seemed convinced.
"I can tell. There's like this ringing in my ears and k can't stand it!" Her voice rised. "Are you sure your ears aren't just super sensitive to the air conditioning or something?" Stiles signed. "That's not how it works Stiles, you know that. My ears only get sensitive to other sound when something's wrong, too." She began to speed up her pacing, to the point that she was rapidly running from this was and that, tugging on her auburn strands as she went.
"Lydia, if it'll make you feel better, well go walk down to the school-" He was cut off by an ear piercing screech, one only made by a banshee. "Lyds, come here, well find her, it'll be ok," He cooed, running to her side where she was crumpled on the floor. Stiles lifted up her head but to his surprise, there was blood dripping from her ears. Her face looked tired and scared, and there was tears forming in the brims of her waterline.
"That wasn't me." Lydia whispered, her voice harsh and quivering. Stiles scooped her up and set her down, and Lydia used his shoulder as support, her legs were still shakey from the banshee scream she heard.
Stiles and Lydia began to walk together to the door, and he snagged his keys before exiting the house. They shuffled down the steps of his porch and hopped in the old blue jeep. Lydia slid into the passenger seat as stiles jammed the keys into the ignition. With a few quick moves, the couple was racing down the streets of beacon hills.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••The two were stressing, and stiles went from not very concerned about Allison to very extremely concerned. Lydias worries only worsened. Her voice was shakey as she gave him directions to where the scream came from. On their way, The banshee had phoned Liam and Scott to see if they heard the screech too. Unfortunately, and much to Stiles and Lydia's discomfort, they heard it.
"Uh, turn left," she spoke, hands fidgeting with fear. Lydia had noticed Stiles was gripping the wheel so hard, his knuckles were a white color. She couldn't blame him. The rusty jeep pulled up to a clearing in the woods, close to the lookout point. Lydia hopped out first, running as fast as her bare feet could take her. Stiles followed close behind, eventually catching up and getting a grip on her had. They ran through the woods, when Lydia heard another scream followed by crying, sobbing even, she didn't let the blood stop her. If fact, that just urged her and stiles to run even faster, even stiles had a struggle to keep up with the red head.
"Allison!" Lydia yelled, running faster than Stiles had seen her run since the last supernatural fall out. They're sweet daughter turned around, tears streaming down her face and her features were contorted in pain. "Momma," Allison managed to croak out between sobs, running as fast as her little legs could carry her and landed safe into her mothers open arms. Lydia cradled her, scooping her up like she didn't when she was a baby. Stiles ran to her side as well, hugging his daughter from the opposite side, creating a circle of a hysterical little girl and terrified parents.
Stiles looked past his fiancé and saw the body, there was scratch marks across the cheeks of him, blood stains all over his clothes and skin. It was horrific sight, stiles cursed the supernatural world for letting his beautiful daughter see that at such a young age, or any age for that matter. 'She had to be a banshee,' He thought, 'There's no way she could manage to wonder 20 minutes out of town and find a dead body, and with Lydias supernatural genes it wouldn't be uncommon,' Stiles just tightened his grip around Allison and Lydia, hoping this could
Allison's first and last banshee episode.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••"What are we going to do about this, Stiles," Lydia whispered, stroking their daughters hair in between them. After what happened, she couldn't stand to be alone, and Lydia and Stiles couldn't stand to be without her. "We are not telling her about the supernatural this early. For me, 16 was to early. But our 8 year old daughter? No way in hell." He whispered back. Lydia looked at their daughter with so much love and care, and her look answered him without even speaking. She just continued to run her hands through Allisons tiny head of strawberry blonde curls. "She's gonna need to know sometime stiles. And when she does, we need to be the one to tell her. She's not like me, she wasn't exposed to her powers at the age of 16 like I was. She's only 8, stiles. 8. And she's already had her first scream, her first find. That's way to early. I haven't met many banshees, but even I know that that's no age fire a banshee. We need to protect her from this stiles." Her eyes filled with regret, concern, everything that made stiles want to just grab her and hold her until all her problems faded away.
But that wasn't going to happen. They have to live with the burden of another banshee. But even if Allison is a banshee, She will always be their little angel, their blessing, their family.
"We will Lydia, we will do anything. To protect our daughter. We can do this." Stiles said, stroking Lydia cheek.
And he meant it. He would to anything to protect their family. He dealt with near death due to protecting Lydia multiple times, and he wouldn't give two thoughts to do it again for Allison. But this was only her first scream. As there was with Lydia, there will be many more to come.
