"You need to turn your blinker on." Lydia said, her words accusing and harsh. It didn't break the awkward tension built up in the car, only strained it between her and Stiles even more. His eyes faltered from the road for a quick second.

"What?" He said, which she replied to by sighing heavily.

"You just switched lanes. You didn't turn your blinker on." Lydia raised her eyebrows expectantly but Stiles just scoffed.

"There's literally no one else on the road." He shouted, looking around the deserted streets of Beacon Hills. Not a single other headlight or taillight was seen. She just shook her head.

"Law's the law, Stiles. Don't be stupid." Lydia hissed, and he rolled his eyes before looking at her.

Both of them knew this wasn't about the car blinker. After the beast was defeated a month ago, the two were stuck in a very awkward limbo. Weird touches and glances at each other were a regular reoccurrence, but did their stubbornness budge?

No.

"Why do you do this?" He sighed, pulling the car to a stop on the side of the road. She groaned, glaring at him but his lips were pressed firmly in a straight line.

"Do what?" She spat, refusing to meet his eyes.

"THAT!" He yelled, flailing his arms. "Acting so sassy! I haven't done anything, God forbid I forget to turn my blinker on when we're driving down a deserted road." She crossed her arms defensively, still staring straight forward at the dashboard.

"I'm sorry, I just believe if you're going to do something like that, you should warn other people." She turned to him at last, flashing her eyes that could turn almost anyone to stone. Stiles threw his head back and groaned in frustration.

"Well, I would've turned my blinker on if everyone else warned me too!" Now he had gone from being frustrated with her to seething with rage. She pulled that card? The warning card? Stiles knows that he's been kind of a jerk lately, but so has she.

"Well maybe everyone else is just scared that you don't really want to switch lanes! Some people need the reassurance of the blinker in their lives." Lydia huffed, looking out the window and into the surrounding streets

"Well, I'm scared too! I think switching lanes is a pretty scary thing, so sometimes I fuck up and forget to turn my blinker on!" He yelled, moving closer to her. His head seemed to pound as he noticed how unusually low cut her shirt was. God, focus Stiles!

"BUT YOU CAN'T JUST DO SOMETHING THAT MAJOR AND NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!" She screamed at him, finally breaking her focus and meeting his eyes. They were both red faced and breathless, Lydia noticing how close they had gotten. Their noses were almost touching, and their lips were just inches apart.

A heat spread across her cheeks, and a fire seemed to be raging in her heart. His breath ticked her skin and she looked into his gorgeous, honey colored eyes. "Well," Stiles said in a voice barely above a whisper. "I'm going to do something about it now."

He wrapped one arm around her torso, the other behind her neck and pulled her into him. She hungrily grabbed the collar of his shirt. Their lips crashed against each other furiously, and all of the tension between the two of them was released.

Their heated argument turned into a heated make-out session in the blink of an eye, but neither of them cared enough to recognize that. Stiles and Lydia were just happy that the blinker was finally turned on.

Until an even brighter light was shined into their faces.

"Stiles- what the hell are you doing?" He heard someone yell. They pulled apart and looked to windshield like a deer in headlights. Sheriff Stilinksi was there, uniform clad with flashlight in hand. Stiles' eyes widened as he gasped. Lydia quickly looked away, tugging at her shirt and composing herself, not noticing her lipstick was smudged all over his face and her own.

"D-DAD!" Stiles yelled, a furious blush across his cheeks. "What are you doing here?"

The Sheriff laughed. "Well, if I see my sons car parked on the side of the road, I think I ought to be concerned." Stiles groaned and scratched behind his head.

"Mr. Stilinski," Lydia began, "I am so sorry-"

He just laughed and waved his hands, cutting her off. "No, Lydia, don't apologize. I'm more relieved than angry. I've been waiting for this to happen."

Lydia gasped, and Stiles let his mouth hang open.

"You-you what?" He stuttered, looking between Lydia and his dad.

"Well, yeah, of course. Everyone's been waiting for a while now. It was getting kind of old, all the weird angsty-ness between you two." He said, and Stiles pinched the bridge of his nose, looking to the side.

"God, dad, please, not in front of us." Stiles complained, and Lydia awkwardly laughed, grabbing the hand that he had resting on the console.

"Wait, us?" She said, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Well, yeah, if you want to be us. I would love to be us." He rambled, and she nodded her head.

"I want to be us too," She squeezed his hand reassuringly, and he smiled at her.

"Awh," The Sheriff cooed, "You two are just too cute. Be home by twelve." He finished, walking away, getting back into his police cruiser and driving away.

Stiles turned to Lydia again, smiling goofily before grabbing her in a passionate kiss again.

Finally, after months and months of waiting and awkwardness, they had turned their blinkers on.
