Micaela POV
"I can't believe this!" I whispered.
"'Me neither," Alyssa replied in awe.
Here we were, two young college women standing in the by the busy streets of New York City. We were in Broadway, to be exact.
After three days of hard work and extreme preparation, we took the new kitten, whom we had named Norbert Christopher after the original Fiyero and Boq, to the pet shop. The poor kitten was still cowering when we left; though, he looked less skinny.
Now, we had finally arrived in New York City. People bustled all around us, and tourists snapped pictures. A couple passed us, speaking a language I didn't recognize, and a family posed for a picture in front of the sign for Wicked.
"What should we do first?" Alyssa asked.
"We could see a Broadway show! We brought extra money for something like that," I suggested, obvious hope in my eyes.
"But what would we see? There's so much to choose from! Wicked, Les Miserable, Phantom of the Opera, Something Rotten, On the Town, Matilda the Musical, The Lion King...."
"Don't give me so many options! Um...idk. Give me two that you want to see the most," I told.
"I can't just choose two!"
"Fine. The first two you think of."
"Wicked and the Phantom of the Opera," Alyssa told me.
I pulled out a quarter. "Heads for the Phantom's mask, tails for the flying monkeys," I decided, tossing the coin into the air and catching it.
"Tails," Alyssa said.
"Wicked it is! How fitting!" I announced. We bought tickets for the musical, which was at 7:00 PM.
"It'll probably end at around 10:00 if it starts on time," I informed.
"What should we do until then?" Alyssa questioned.
"Let's walk around until we see something to do," I suggested.
"Sight-seeing!"
"Where to first?" I wondered, not really knowing much about New York City never having been there.
"I have been to New York, and I think we should take a tour. Then, we can see some famous sights!" Alyssa advised.
"Okay!"
We found a tour that we liked, an payed for it. Luckily, it was leaving soon, so we wouldn't be too late or too early.
We saw a lot of cool buildings, like the Empire State Building. It was amazing to be seeing these sights with my own eyes. We also saw where the twin tours used to be, and Central Park. In addition, we saw Times Square. ("And Idina Menzel performed there for the ball drop last year," I had said excitedly)
At last, we arrived, by boat, near the Statue of Liberty.
"Woah!" I managed to whisper.
"I know, right?" Alyssa murmured. "She's green...sort of."
"Just give her a broomstick instead of the torch, pretend the tablet is the Grimmerie, and you're all good," I laughed.
The tour guide told us a little bit about the statue's history and all that fun stuff. I didn't really listened, but instead observed the statue and thought about what it meant for our country. Cliché, i know, yet it is true.
By the time we were done sight-seeing, we went to our hotel to change for the musical. I chose a black dress, and, not to my surprise, Alyssa wore a light pink dress.
Before the musical, we went to a simple restaurant called Island Burgers and Shakes. Throughout our whole meal, we chatted about how excited we were. Finally, we arrived at Gershwin Theatre. We frantically bought merchandise (me, the Grimmerie, her a shirt) and strolled to our seats. Of course, it started a little bit late. I took a selfie (I hate pictures, but I always take selfies when I go to see professional stuff like this) and I tried to get a selfie with Alyssa, yet she, too, was camera shy. I sneakily got one.
Finally, the show started....

The last notes of the finale rung out throughout of the auditorium. We all stood up and clapped as the cast came out on the stage. We hurried up and went to the stage door.
Caroline Bowman (Elphaba) and Kara Lindsay (Glinda) came out first.
I grabbed a Sharpie and went over to Caroline first.
"Hi," I said, obviously nervous.
"Hello! Did you enjoy the show?" Caroline asked.
"Of course. It was absolutely wicked!" I exclaimed.
Caroline laughed. "Glad you liked it."
Alyssa got her autograph, too, and then we went over to Kara Lindsay.
"Hi guys! How are you?" She asked.
"We're wonderful," Alyssa said, not intending the pun. "How about you?"
"I am exhausted. I have to go to auditions to go to tomorrow," Kara sighed.
"We're auditioning!" Alyssa replied brightly.
"Really? That's awesome!" Kara responded enthusiastically.
"Yeah..." I said shyly.
"I love your make up," Kara exclaimed.
I looked down and saw that my skin was green. Stupid excitement. Should I tell her?
"Um...thanks. It really was a great show," I mumbled, quickly changing the subject.
"Thank you," Kara smiled.
We got the signatures of some of the other cast members. It was weird for both of us to know that there was a small chance that we could be working with them in the future.
"Good luck on your auditions," Kara called as we were leaving. Caroline smiled at us.
I forced my skin to turn back to its normal color as we turned the corner.
"That was amazing," Alyssa sighed.
"And just think. We have a chance to be apart of that," I whispered.
"But only one of us," Alyssa murmured.
We both knew how true and how terrifying those words were. We didn't really want to bring it up.
"If one of us gets it, promise me we'll keep in touch," I demanded.
"Of course! I promise. Do you?"
"I promise. There is no way I am losing the only true friend I have ever had," I promised.
"There is no way I'm losing the only true friend I've ever had, either," Alyssa told me.
We walked into our hotel room an made ourselves cups of hot tea.
Finally, we laid down to go to sleep.
"Micaela?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm nervous."
"Me too."
"Micaela?"
"Yes?"
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
"Like a friend, I mean."
"I know."
"Micaela?"
"What?"
"Am I annoying?"
"Very."
"Micaela?"
"What do you want now?"
"I don't remember."
"Micaela?"
"WHAT?"
"Goodnight."
"Micaela?"
"..."
"Micaela?"
"..."
"Are you dead?"
"Yes. Go to bed."
"Micaela?"
"I will put a sock in your mouth."
"Rest in peace."
"That's what I'm trying to do."
"Micaela?"
"I am about to bang my head against that table."
"Sweet dreams. Don't forget, the knife is in the cupboard. You better hope you get to it before I do. I WANT THAT SPOT AS GLINDA!"
"But I'm too tired to save my life."
"Micaela?"
"Yes?"
"Wicked dreams."
"Alyssa?"
"Yes?"
"Have a pleasant sleep."
"Okay."
"Alyssa?"
"I see how that is annoying."
"Good night."
