Memories

"How could you just make memories with someone and then walk away like nothing ever happened?" I asked once.

Then today I finally came up with the answer, "because they had hurt me so terribly."
You see, the memories will always stick somewhere in your brain, deep or shallow; but for some it's easy enough to walk away. Why is that? Because the shallow memories you keep are the bad ones, the ones you remember too thoroughly. Too much. They're what made it so easy to walk away. Because of them, the good memories that are kept deep in your brain no longer serve a purpose. That's because you're so broken, so beat up, and torn. On all your edges there's a bruise that tells a story of your past, a reasoning why you walked away without a second thought.

So, how could you just make memories with someone and then walk away like nothing ever happened? Because you're so broken, and no longer want to remember.
