Katy glanced at herself in the mirror, she felt amazing in her red and white polka dotted dress. Hazel had just finished doing Katy's hair and she was amazed by the golden locks that fell along her shoulders.
"I feel like I'm a super model or something." Katy giggled with excitement. Hazel looked her up and down then smiled, "well of course you would I made you like this did I not?"
The two girls laughed it off and carried on drinking their wine whilst preparing for their double date.
"I don't know why I have to go on this stupid date with you anyway! Especially when I don't know the guys or have any interest!"
Hazel at this point was very honest, most probably because of the three bottles of wine she had drank. Katy spent most of the time reassuring Hazel that she will enjoy herself. The two girls made their way through the hallway to see that Tim had let Harkin in!
Katy could feel herself boiling as she stared at him. "Cupcake you look amazing!" Tim jumped from his seat to cuddle Katy, but she did not take her evil gaze off of Harkin. "Don't they look great?" Tim asked Harkin as he ushered the girls into the sitting room.
"They do indeed, like two lil sugar plums." Harkin replied sparing a smile in Katy's direction.
Hazel pushed Harkin as she grabbed a glass of their whiskey, " ah spare the mushy stuff we're only out to impress two lucky guys tonight and it's not you two!" Hazel smiled and winked at Tim then made her way to the front door.
Katy gave Tim a quick peck on the cheek and rushed past Harkin. She couldn't wait to get out of the house and away from him.
Ugh! The audacity, who does he think he is entering my home after the whole party incident! Oh gosh maybe he came by to apologise, ha, nah Harkin and apologies don't even fit together.Katy could taste his after shave let alone smell it! Aaron really is an amazing guy but he seemed more interested in Hazel than her! She wasn't going to freak at him or Hazel for the other guy really was horrendous, picking his nose and wiping it in his napkin, whenever he would laugh he would spit his food across the table, and all she could think of was Harkin anyway. "Hey Matthew, do you want to walk me home and we'll leave these two love birds be?" Katy said trying to be a good friend, she stood up and received a wink from Hazel.
The whole way home Matthew kept talking about his mother and how much she does for him even if he still lives with her. Katy found it lovely but a bit boring after hearing it for half an hour. She stopped in front of her house and smiled, "look I want to offer you in for a cup of tea or even a drink but I don't want you getting the wrong idea, I just wanted to make new friends and I guess Aaron and Hazel weren't and I'm really sorry if you were looking for more than a friendship." Matthew smiled at her not even a crack in his smile and agreed it was fine.
They walked in hearing Tim and Harkin having a sing song in the front room. Katy let a slight smile go to Matthew and apologised. They made their way in and was forced to stay and have a few drinks and songs before Matthew left. Katy tried declining because the last time she had a drink around Harkin she got sick, but sadly there was no getting out of it.She walked to the kitchen to top up their drinks she could sense Harkin following behind her. She placed the glasses on the counter and turned swiftly. "What? What do you want?"
Harkin raised his eyebrows and slightly smiled. He walked closer until each hand was resting on the counter either side of Katy.
"I want to know why you would be dating a guy like Matthew." She turned her back to him and carried on making the drinks.
Who is he to question my life? Especially when he only makes things worse! "It's none of your business who I date!" Katy could feel his breath on her neck, wishing things were different so she didn't have to pretend this guy was her date, that she could just turn around and hug Harkin and tell him how much she really liked him. "I was just asking. I thought a girl like you could do so much better." His hands lifted from the counter and out of Katy's vision. She couldn't tell if he walked back into the front room or if he was lingering in the hallway. What was that comment about anyways? How would he know who she would date nowadays. She turned spilling the drinks everywhere from the sight of the dark figure in the hallway. "You fucking idiot!" With a grunt and sigh Katy started to clean the alcohol from the floor. "I thought you knew I was here the whole time." Harkin responded walking in to lend a hand.
After they both finished cleaning they poured out fresh drinks and returned to the sitting room.Matthew and Tim were singing most of the time whilst Harkin kept looking over at Katy. She finally convinced Matthew to head home before he was too drunk and on that note Tim headed to bed.
Walking back inside the house thoughts were running through her mind. How will I get Harkin to leave? But then again I don't really want him to... "Please don't fuck with me like that." She raised her eyes looking at Harkin standing in front of her with his arms crossed and a frown forming.
"What are you in about?" Katy pushed passed him towards the fireplace in the kitchen/sitting room.
She focused on the flames in the fireplace growing higher and warming her frozen hands.
"I'm on about acting like you and Matthew were more than friends! I know when you're lying Katy and I know when you're not interested in!" His firm gaze stayed on her, making her feel the tension and anger.
She turned to face him, looking up into his sharp brown eyes, she knew there was no way out of this. Katy turned her back to him and rested herself into the comfort of the armchair in front of the fire.
Harkin walked in front of her placing each hand either side of her again. She could smell the alcohol on his breath and see the hunger in his eyes.
"I'm sick of pretending Katy, I've wanted you for a long time and I know you want me!" With that he leaned in and placed a kiss on her lips. His sweet taste tingled her lips but she knew that kissing him back wasn't a good idea.
"What about Scarlette? She wouldn't be happy knowing you want me!" Harkin lifted himself away from her taking in what she said.
He shook his head then walked out without a single word just a quick glance back at her.**************************************************************************
