I lay on the bed thinking about how long it would take for Hazel to be allowed back home again. Harkin and I didn't say much to each other on the way back here, we didn't even say anything to each other when he helped me bring my things in. I thanked him and that was it, he just when on his way.
Part of me wishes I had the guts to tell him how I feel about him, how I've felt for ages. But I know he's a stubborn guy and it would take him ages to tell me. Hazel was back to her normal self after spending 3hours in her room crying and screaming. She was now pottering around the house trying to find something to do. I decided to stay in my room for a while and process my new living arrangements. Harkin had set rules for us like;
Rule number 1 - clean up after yourself.
Rule number 2 - always tell Harkin or James where I'm going and how long I'll be.
Rule number 3 - do not enter Harkin's room. That one confused me, why would Hazel or I want to go into his room?
"Chicken wing, are you awake?" Hazel's question pulled me from my thoughts. I jumped off the bed and opened the door. Smiling at me she raised a bottle of vodka in one hand and two glasses in the other.
"Where did you get that?" I asked, eyes widening.
"James went to the shop and got it for me. Now where to in our, new humble abode, would you like to drink this?" She stood there smiling at me with raised eyebrows, I returned the smile and walked out of my room.
"Let's go somewhere comfy.... Maybe his study." I grinned, Hazel frowned but followed. I'm hoping to annoy Harkin that much that he begs us both to leave.
We knocked on the door and waited, no answer. I swung the door open to see the fire roaring and We could hear Mozart playing on the sound system.
"Well the music has to change first." Hazel giggled running over to the sound system, turning it off.
I smiled at her happiness and walked in closing the door behind me.Hazel had found an old school reggae cd and played it while we drank the vodka and talked about what it'd be like if we were millionaires.
"You both have rooms for a reason!" His voice boomed over the music and our giggles. I quickly looked towards the doorway to see Harkin putting on a t-shirt. We giggled even more and ignored his comment.
"Are you two drunk?" Harkin asked walking around the chairs to stand in front of us.
"We are not drunk dear sir, we are just a tad bit merry." Hazel said in her strongest English accent. We giggled again when he frowned at us. He must have just been out of the shower because his hair was still wet and his tanned face looked rosy.
"Where did you get the vodka?"
"Secret stash." I replied grabbing the bottle before he could. Harkin shook his head and bent down to grab our glasses.
"Hazel, there's a guy here to see you, he's waiting by the front door." Hazel jumped up and sang some mixture of reggae and classical while she wobbled out of the study.
"Who is it?" I asked standing up to follow her. Harkin placed his hand on my shoulder and my skin tingled under his hand.
"She'll be ok, a friend from the Gaurds, Martin, is out there aswell, to keep an eye on the visitor and Hazel."
I sat back down with relief and tried to shake the want inside of me.
"Katy, please don't ever drink in here again without asking." I looked up at his cross face and giggled. "It's just a bit of fun." He ran his fingers through his wet hair and sat beside me.
"You're drunk." He must have tried not to smile because it was like he was at war with himself.
"And you're sober!" I replied pushing my glass, which he had left on the table, up to his mouth.
He laughed and took it off me.
"I can't drink, I have work in the morning." Harkin placed the glass back down.
What was wrong with him? Drinking the night before work was never an issue for him before.
Maybe he's just getting boring the older he gets.
"You used to be so much fun!" Oh no!!!! Did I just say that! It was a thought please say it was a thought and I didn't actually say it.
I knew it wasn't the moment Harkin's eyes rested on mine and his eyebrows raised.
"Is that so?" He smiled and downed the vodka which was in my glass. Making a strange face he picked up Hazel's glass and downed hers aswell.
"You used to be innocent." He responded and then stood up.
What the fuck was that meant to mean? I could feel anger bubbling inside me but I just wanted to kiss him. I stood up in front of him and slapped him in the face. Marching towards the door I felt his hand grip my arm firmly.
"I didn't mean it to insult you." He said pulling me back. I just stood still, the room felt like it was moving and my head felt so heavy. Maybe my head was heavy because of all my thoughts! His hand stayed on my arm but he walked closer to me this time.
"Well I meant mine as an insult." I giggled, oh why must I giggle I'm meant to be serious right now.
Harkin's body was so close now, he towered over me and I could smell his aftershave. The warmth off his body felt so nice. What am I doing? I should hate this guy! He ruined my life and my best friends life. I turned to face him and he looked down at me smiling.
"I think we should check on Hazel." He whispered as I placed my hands on his chest. I nodded my head and spun around, before I could walk he grabbed me and spun me back around. What was he doing! What the fuck was I thinking letting him do this!
He lent over me and placed his tender lips on mine. The taste of the vodka seeped from his lips to mine. I lifted my hands to his chest and pushed away. Harkin stood there confused.
"I, I, I'm sorry. Let's check Hazel." I mumbled and then walked out the door.Hazel wasn't outside the front, Martin said she went inside with the guy. I started to panic and ran down the hallway to her room. Swinging open the door my eyes focused on Hazel and Aaron making out on the bed.
"Katy! What are you doing!" Hazel shouted when she seen me.
"I.... You have some explaining to do mister!" I shouted at Aaron and pointed my finger at him with narrowed eyes.
Hazel laughed and stood up, holding onto Aaron's hand she lead the way out of her room.
"Can we go somewhere else?" She asked smiling at me.
What was going on? I thought he was having a baby? Harkin nodded from behind me and then lead the way down the hall and into a different living area.****************************************************************
