Dangerous Ground

Harkin's lips on mine! His words still sending shivers down my body. He wants me, but that's too dangerous especially with Scarlette involved! Two rich people and then me!
Katy couldn't get him out of her head, the way his eyes filled with hunger when he leaned into her. His scent that made her feel like she was getting high!

"Katy are you even listening to me!" Hazel's voice pulled her from her thoughts. She was talking about how well her date went with Aaron but Katy kept drifting off into her own thoughts. "Look I'm finished in about 30minutes of you want just hang about until I'm finished and we can talk. Sorry Hazey, my heads all over the place." Hazel nodded then walked away knowing there was something Katy wasn't saying.

Her cup of tea warmed her hands while she took small sips focusing on Hazel.
"He was so dreamy and he can play electric guitar and drums! I couldn't believe it cause he said he was studying business in college then BOOM! He's a rocker ha!" It was the first time in a long time that Katy had seen Hazel as happy. Hazel placed her cappuccino on the table and gave Katy a devilish grin.
"So what happened with you and Matthew? He only came back to Aaron's at 3am and by gosh he was drunk!" Her eyes narrowed on Katy as she shrugged with a sip on her tea again.
"He came back and had a few drinks with my dad and Harkin but that was it, he got in the taxi and said he'd be in touch. I already told him I didn't want any relationship only friendship and he was cool with it." Hazel's eyes darted to Katy's eyes with a look of confusion.
"What was Harkin still doing there? Did he say anything or start on you about anything?!" Katy trusted Hazel with everything but maybe she shouldn't say this.... What if other people found out and then she would have Scarlette onto her.
Katy took in a deep breath and looked down at her tea. "He was drinking with my dad and Matthew. After Tim went to bed and Matthew left, Harkin told me he wanted me for a long time and tried kissing me." She could feel Hazel's eyes still on her and she looked up with a concerned look.
"I thought he was with that slapper!" Hazel grabbed her drink looking annoyed. "That's what I said, well not exactly like that, but when I did he just walked out."
"Be careful Hun, I don't want you getting hurt by either of them otherwise I'll have some serious ass kicking to do!" Katy smiled with a nod Hazel was always there for her, even when she moved away Hazel stayed in contact.

That night she cuddled up in front of the fire trying to take in all that happened since she came back. If only Harkin could stay out of her life long enough so she could at least settle in back home before he came back destroying things.
Maybe if it was just Harkin in her life and not Scarlette things would be a lot easier?

Katy woke with a hand on her shoulder, she didn't turn around for she knew that scent, she knew that hand.
"I would get you a blanket but I don't know where they are kept."
His voice sent shivers down her body ever since that night his lips touched hers she couldn't get him off her mind.
"I was getting up anyway." Katy stretched and rose off the chair to face Harkin. He towered over her like usual but instead of his casual suit, he was wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt. She could see his toned muscles in his arms as he crossed them and his body was so irresistible. As she lifted her gaze to his brown eyes she could see them brighten as he caught hers.
"I was just coming by to see Tim but he's not in?" Katy walked by him switching the kettle on and tried fixing her hair before she turned around. Ok maybe being in old baggy joggers and a hoody two times too big for her wasn't attractive but maybe she could tidy up the head area!
"He's working like he always does every Monday. Thought you would have known that by now." She looked over at him seeing his smile fade, Katy knew when he would lie about these things, gosh she knew the guy since she was 15 of course she would know when he's lying by now!
"Ok look I came here to talk to you. I can't get what happened Saturday night out of my mind." So she wasn't alone in this, he was thinking about his attempted kiss towards her too!
"Tea?" Katy asked trying to avoid the subject until she was safe in her arm chair again.
"No thank you. Katy I'm not with Scarlette but it's very complicated and I wish I could explain but I really can't. I've been trying to think of ways I could tell you but it all sounds stupid so maybe if you're ready we can talk about Saturday?"
What's that meant to mean? He's not with her but it's complicated! Oh no, maybe their friends with benefits and he was hoping she would be the same! Or maybe this is some fifty shades of grey stuff! I can't be caught up in this mess, especially if he's still seeing Scarlette!
"Katy, are you ok?" His voice snapped her out of her thoughts and she brushed them off whilst walking to her armchair across from where Harkin was now sitting. "Go on." She half smiled.

"I've been meaning to try and kiss you or even get closer to you for a very long time but you're a hard woman to get a hold of. Maybe I shouldn't have tried it the way I did but I did anyway and I want to know what you're feelings are about it." He kept his eyes on her watching for any signs but Katy kept her head down looking into her mug of tea.
"Harkin I've known you for years and maybe we haven't had the best of friendships but my father adores you, you're like the son he.... He could never have. And maybe that's too much to risk on just you and I. Maybe I'm wrong but..." You're lips felt amazing and I would love to wrap myself in your arms... No that can not be said Katy! Get a hold yourself!
"Harkin I can't just open myself up to you in a split second. I can't jump into something when I don't even know if you and Scarlette are an item or friends with benefits or even just on and off. I'm sorry." Harkin rose and now she could feel the tension in the air, his voice was more like a growl this time and his eyes felt like daggers. "To make accusations is bad Kate! I thought you were better than that!" And with that he walked out the house without giving her a chance to explain. How was she meant to know what Scarlette and he had going on? He wouldn't even explain if they were together or not!
Katy knew this wouldn't be easy from the beginning, maybe she was better off staying in Wales.
