AN- here's a little bit about Katy... Hope it doesn't throw you off the book... Enjoy 😁

Katy lay on her bed thinking about everything. After Harkin got in his car he drove Katy back to hers. Not a single word exchanged between them both, they just hugged each other and went their separate ways. But what did Harkin say to her mother and Marc before they drove off again. Why didn't he explain the whole Scarlette and him thing? So much she would love to know but getting answers off Harkin was like getting a lawyer to tell the truth.

The rest of the day felt like it was dragging on. Tim had passed out in the sitting room and nobody, thankfully, had called to the house.
Katy decided before it got too dark to bring some fresh flowers to her mother's and Marc's grave. She had picked the flowers from the garden and arranged them neatly in plastic wrapping.
The drive there wasn't too bad but then again there wasn't much traffic at 10pm on a Sunday night.

Katy walked to the grave with a lump in her throat. After what Harkin told her she strongly believes it was her fault.
Katy placed the flowers down and a tear fell from her face. Why must this hurt so much? Why couldn't she just take it on the chin that night? It wasn't easy pretending everything was ok either.
"Katy, I didn't expect to see you here this late." It was Harkin, his voice pulled her from her puzzling thoughts once again.
"I just wanted to apologise to them." She muttered trying to hold back her tears.
Harkin knelt down beside her and placed his bouquet of flowers on the grave. "So did I. I'm so sorry." He said and rubbed her back with his head down.
Katy looked at him not caring that her hair was in a messy ponytail, her skinny jeans were covered in dirt or the fact that her t-shirt was wrinkled. Why should she care it's dark and it's not one of her good days.
"It's not your fault. I should've handle things a lot better and not went crying to everyone." Harkin stood up and offered Katy his hand.
"Come back to mine, we can talk properly over a cup of tea or coffee." Katy wasn't sure if this was the right thing to do but she really wanted her questions to be answered by him. She grabbed his hand but headed towards her car this time, "I'll follow you, it's a lot easier that way." He spared a smile and headed for his car.

When they got to his bungalow Katy's stomach started to do somersaults. What if this is just a trap to make a fool out of her? What if Scarlette's in on it too.
They didn't say anything to each other until they were both sitting down in the sitting room, with a mug of tea in their hands.
"So what do you want to know?" Katy's mind was running wild so many questions but she didn't want to bombard him with them all at once so she picked the one which was sticking out the most.
"What's going on between Scarlette and you?" His lips tightened but released quickly, Harkin took a deep breath in and looked at the fireplace.
"Do you really want to know?" Katy nodded and took a sip of her tea.
"We split up a year ago when I found her cheating on me with one of my best friends. I didn't see her or speak to her for months, then she showed up at my front door in tears saying she couldn't live without me. Scarlette has a lot of problems Katy and loving someone who didn't love her was one of them."
He stayed looking at the fire and wouldn't turn to face Katy.
She's got a lot of problems! What being a spoilt brat is a problem? Katy was relieved they weren't together but still unsure about Harkin.
"So what's going on with the both of you now?"
He looked at Katy with eyes so gentle.
"Well we are not together I can tell you that! But I don't know each time I tell her I don't want anything to do with her she says a load of shit.... She gets very suicidal and I feel bad and try to look after her." Katy's anger was rising, why threaten him with suicide? And when the fuck did Harkin become mister soft and caring?
She didn't know what else to say to him so she just sipped on her tea.

"I want to know what's going to happen with us." She could feel his eyes on her and she swallowed the tea, maybe too loud.
"What do you mean us? Harkin there cannot be an us in friendship or anything more unless she's gone out of the picture. I'm sorry to lay that on you but I can't be dealing with a girl like her trying to ruin everything for me again."
His eyes sharpened and he put his mug on the table.
"What do you mean again? Just because she got me before you did you're blaming her?"
"No! No I'm not!!! I'm blaming her for bullying me and rubbing it in my face when she got with you! Dumb poor Katy could never get a guy like Harkin! And then my mother and Marc I just had to get away from it all!"
Harkin looked at Katy. She knew she was fiddling with the handle for the mug so she placed it on the table and crossed her arms.
Within seconds Harkin was on his knees in front of her, holding her in his arms. He felt safe and like nothing mattered just him.
"I can't have her ruining me again." She sobbed in his chest.
"Ok she's gone I promise, I'd do anything for you Katy."
His words were like a sweet song in her ears, he would do anything for me, even dropping her for me!
I'm only 22 and he's 33, maybe I'm jumping in too fast but his arms around me feel so normal and good, right now.

Katy wrapped her arms around his neck and looked him in the eyes. They looked like they did years ago, gentle and gorgeous.
Harkin placed a kiss on her lips and that was it, her whole body tingled. This is what she wanted so many years ago, him all of him.
His tongue slipped into her mouth taking her into a trance type situation. She was tantalised by him and followed his move. His hand slowly moved down her side and he grabbed her by her hips pulling her closer to him. She stopped, Katy was pulled in by him and she didn't want to, at least not yet.

"What's wrong?" His hands were still on her making her body want more but her mind knew different.
"I have to get back before Tim wakes up, sorry." Katy leapt up and Harkin stood in front of her.
"I'm sure he'll be fine, he's a grown man."
"But I don't want to get too serious until I know that Scarlette won't be involved anymore." Harkin nodded with a sigh and walked Katy to her car.
She tiptoed up for a hug goodbye but he brought his lips to hers.
They were soft and amazing, She couldn't catch her breath. Katy returned the kiss and then got in her car. He stood there until she had left his sight.
