This is kinda just a filler chapter to keep things moving so yeah, here we goooooooo!
Raoul and I soon arrive at the De Changy Manor and he carries me inside.
"Raoul?"
"Yes, Christine?"
"I take back what I said earlier, about not loving you...i'll always love you, just not in the way you love me. You were my best friend before my father passed on, and you were there to comfort me until we were separated. I will always be grateful for that, and I love you, as a friend."
"Christine, I love you too, even if you don't love me romantically, I will always want you to be safe and happy.
He said this with a smile on his face, but I could tell it was forced. I could see the pain in his eyes. He put me down in the doorway of the room and hugged me tightly.
"There are some clothes for you in the wardrobe over there. Let me know if you need anything."
I nodded and looked around the beautiful room. It was painted a light blue color, so light that it was almost white. The queen-sized bed looked like it was fit for royalty, with the unique golden architecture on the frame so precise. There was a white sheer canopy cascading from the frame like a waterfall. A white, glossy, wooden wardrobe was placed in the corner of the room. Next to it was the matching vanity set. What caught my eye most, though, was the portrait hanging on the wall. It was a man and woman. They must have been married, but they did not look happy. Neither of them was smiling, which wasn't uncommon to see in portraits. Most people wanted to look serious. However, this man and woman seemed especially miserable. I have no idea why, though. Raoul starting to leave the room directs me away from my thoughts. I grab his shoulder.
"Raoul..."
"Yes? Do you need anything?"
"I have some, uh, questions for you..." I tell him hesitantly.
"Oh, alright,"
He walks me over and we sit on the bed.
"Okay, so first, how did you know I would be with Erik?"
"Well, I noticed you were acting strange, especially when you snapped at me, so I knew something wasn't right. I talked to the manager to see if you told the truth about just talking with him. He then told me he never talked to you, that it must have been a mistake. Thats when you came up and apologized to me."
I nod my head in understanding, and urge him to continue on. He takes a deep breath and sighs, but continues.
"I went to Madame Giry after that, I knew that if anyone knew what was troubling you, it would be her. She told me you might be with...the opera ghost, that he has been giving you singing lessons. She told me how he came to be the phantom of the opera. You see, he was deformed from birth, then his mother sold him to a circus to be beaten as an act called "The Devil's Child" because she didn't love him. Then, one day, the circus traveled to Persia. There, he met a man called Nadir. Nadir felt bad for him, so he sent the circus to Paris, France and contacted a girl whom he met only once before, he could tell though, that her heart was pure. He told her about this boy who had undergone tremendous suffering, and told her to somehow get him away from the circus and hide him somewhere safe, take care of him until he was old enough to take care of himself. She did exactly as was told and snuck into the cage when it was just the boy and the man who beat him. She picked up a big stick and hit him right on the nose. It was said later, that even though she had no intention of killing him, she hit his nose so hard that the bone went into his brain and he died instantly. She and the boy snuck off and she hid him underneath the opera house. She brought him food when at all possible and he made the catacombs his home. A place where he could practice his many talents. He was a magician, architect, singer, writer, composer, he was pure genius! Then he started to use his genius to become the opera ghost. That girl who saved him was Madame Giry. She was the closest thing he had to family, that is, until you came around. Anyways, after Madame Giry told me all this she showed me the way to the catacombs of the Opera Populaire. I came down and saved you from-_"
"But thats the thing, Raoul, you didn't save me! I didn't need saving, I love Erik, and he loves me! Things have changed, Raoul. He has changed! He doesn't want to hurt anyone."
"Christine! We have seen what this man can do! How do you know he won't loose his temper and do the same to you?"
I now have tears streaming down my face. Not because I am sad, but because i'm angry, frustrated, irritated, exasperated, I don't even know how to describe my feelings in words! I just want my Erik back. Raoul sighsinn exasperation. We are both exhausted and neither of us want to argue.
"I'm going to go to bed, please don't be mad at me Lotte, I just want to keep you safe, because I care."
He walks out of the room and I sob for about 45 minutes on the bed. Finally, I change into a white lace nightgown and start to fall asleep. Just as my eyes start to close, I hear something, someone calling my name. But it is not my angel I hear...Hey everyone! Didn't expect another update so soon, did ya??
