"Lina, babe. We were supposed to be down at the beach for that breakfast Mica was making for us," I hear James's voice say as I'm pulling my shorts up."Coming!" I scream. Sticking my feet through my pink flip flops, and running down the stairs.
"Finally," He huffs, and I roll my eyes, making my way to him and planting a kiss on his lips.
Our fingers tangle together, and we share a smile.
The morning sun shines on us, and we make our way through sand as we are getting to the beach.
I see a big wooden table in the middle of the beach, and an umbrella covering it.
We sit down in front of each other, and Mica sits down to my right after serving the wonderful looking breakfast.
I see bacon, eggs, french toast, and a whole bunch of cut up fruit. It looks like a rainbow. So much colors.
"I will only eat fruit today, Mica." I tell her as I see she's serving.
"May I ask why?" She laughs slightly.
"My stomach has been hurting." I reply and she nods her head, understanding.
"Maybe you are finally pregnant!" She claps her hands in excitement. I shake my head.
"That would require us to have sex," I say. I get close the James's ear and whisper. "Which we don't."
"Right, right." He laughs, remembering the fact that we've never had sex as he grabs the plate Mica served him.
"What's the occasion, Mica?" James asks as he stuffs his mouth with a bunch of strawberries.
"When you two got here, you wouldn't even talk.. Not even look at each other, and now, I know it's only been 2 weeks since you two started getting along.. But I think it deserves a small celebration. You two are finally acting like a married couple." She says and it makes me laugh slightly. I've actually forgetting a bit about the fact that we're married.
"Mr. Walker, I haven't seen you smile like that since you were a boy. Remember when you came with your parents here for vacations all the time? You used to be so happy, and for the last 10 years, you've always had a frown on your face. Well, 8. Those 2 years with that young lady also made you smile," Mica smiles and a small chuckle comes from her lips.
The air in my lungs evaporates, There's been more?
"Mica," James interrupts her.
"Mica," I say, and Mica looks at both of us, understanding she said the wrong thing.
"Mica, go. I have to talk to Lina." James says, and I know he hates it.. But I roll my eyes.
"Yes, I should be getting ready.. I leave in an hour. The plane will be here at 9, right?" She asks, and he simply shakes his head, responding her question.
She makes her way to the house, and I just start putting fruit in my mouth. It'll serve as an excuse. I don't want to open my mouth and talk with him right now.
"Baby, I- I didn't want you to find out this way. I really didn't." He grabs my hand, and I slowly pull it away from him.
I finish chewing the fruit, and finally speak. "Tell me,"
He nods his head, and begins. "Her name is Molly," He doesn't speak for a few seconds, as he looks out in the open, his eyes probably remembering everything he saw. "We met 5 years ago, when I was 14... We were best friends. By the time we were 15.. We were dating. We were so- so.." He cut himself off as he looked at me in the eyes. "So in love. She helped me out in some of my worst times, Believe it or not, I've always hated my dad. He acts like if he controlled me, as if I were his puppet, and whenever I was with her.. I felt like if I could do whatever I wanted. Like if nobody controlled me, I felt free. I lost my virginity to her, and her to me.. We were going to get married, but when I told my father, he denied me. He said she was too poor for me, that I couldn't marry her, Molly's parents had promised her to another man, and she got married that year. I went to her house a few weeks after she got married, when I sobered up a bit... And I told her to runaway with me, but she was scared. She told me she didn't love me, so I left. We haven't talked ever since, but I heard she's pregnant. I'm actually happy for her now... Now that I've found you." He finishes and takes a deep breath.
