I show up to Mica's house, and I see that James was right. The neighborhood isn't the prettiest but at least it's something.Amy stops in front of a beige house, that looks pretty old, like it'll fall apart any moment.
"I'll wait in the car." She tells me. I nod my head and exit the car, and head to the porch.
I knock on the door, and after some seconds someone opens. I expect to see Mica, but I find myself looking down at a green eyed little boy.
"Hello," I smile at him. He seems so cute.
"Hi," He whispers.
"Is Mica here?" I give him another smile.
"Yes. Wait here." He quietly says. He leaves the door a bit open and makes his way inside. "Grandma!" He screams. He's not that loud though.
I hear Mica's lovely voice. "What happened jack?"
"There is a pretty girl in the door." I hear his whispers.
My smile grows even more.
Mica soon opens the door and she seems happy and shocked to see me.
"Miss Lina! Hello! Is everything alright?" She says as she furrows her eyebrows and takes a look at Mrs. Walker in her car. Mica waves at her and Amy waves back.
"I came to see you. I haven't seen you in so long, and I missed you."
"That is so sweet. I missed you too. Both of you. Where is Mr. Walker?" She smiles. Disgust flows though me. Even the mention of that man irritates me. Then I realize she's probably talking about James.
"James, he's- he's good." I simply answer.
Mica notices my slight frown and she invites me to come in. I promise Mrs. Walker I won't be long and enter her house. I sit on the brown couch, and I feel sort of rude, but I just look at everything around me. It reminds me that I should be thankful and humble for everything I receive.
"What is going on?" She asks.
"Nothing, we're just.. A bit distant." I respond.
"That island separates people, I don't know why. I've seen it through the years, it's horrible."
"I don't want to get separated from him though, I just don't know what to do. We have a nice moment, but it all goes back to us being distant. I don't know if I can live like this forever.." I feel like crying.
"He loves you, I can tell. You two get along better when he's not trying to reach his father's standards. Maybe you should just live somewhere far away.. It's just a suggestion." She shrugs.
"Yeah, I think I'm gonna mention it to him. Oh, and by the way, James has mentioned starting a family.." I try to keep my excitement down.
"Really? That would be so wonderful!" She smiled and reached out to take my hand.
"Yeah, I can just imagine how sweet he's be. How he would have his baby girl in his arms and just want to spend the rest of his life trying to make her happy." I feel like crying. I don't know why.
"Oh, don't cry though." She smiles. She can probably already see the tears on my face.
Mica makes tea, and after chatting about some of her life, I make my way. I am so happy to see her, so I give her our address and invite her to our house this Friday afternoon for tea.
It's Tuesday, so there's not too many days left till I see her again anyway.
Amy takes me to my "parents" house for the rest of the afternoon, and I talk and laugh with Mrs. Reynolds for hours. She tells me that Andrea will arrive on Thursday, and I can't say I'm too excited. I promise her that I will come later in the week to visit her anyway.
