Savannah's POV
..............
"Mumma?" I asked, reaching my hands forth to caress beautiful image of my mother. Just then, another figure appeared next to her, as if from a wisp of smoke. It slowly took the form of my father."Papa?" I voiced again, surprise clear in my tone.
"Savannah.. My baby.. You turn 18 today and you have no idea how we regret not being here with you.." My mum voiced, her sound soothing my ears like bells. It sounded so clear, that I second guessed myself about their death ..I just stared at their faces.. My voice betraying me when I needed it the most.. Words failing to come out of my lips.. I opened my mouth to voice how much I missed them, but nothing but air came out..
I rushed forward to hug them both together, but just as I did, my hands went right through them. They dissolved into air as pain does when dipped in water. Tears flowed freely down my cheeks as I frantically cried.. Yet no voice came out..
"MUM!!! DAD!! WHY!?!" I cried out loud, suddenly sitting upright on my bed.
I heard two knocks on the door and a frail voice followed, "Savannah... Are you alright?"
I stood up from my mess of a bed and walked to the door, not bothering to wipe away the tears that flowed one by one..
I opened the door and came face to face with the worried face of my aunt..
"Beta.. Are yo-" She started but I shook my head violently.. Clearly I wasn't okay..
She walked in to the room and placed a bony hand on my shoulder.
"Your mum would would be so proud to see you grown into a beautiful young lady.." She cupped my cheek with her palm as she said this, her eyes lost in some event of the past.."I just miss them s-so bad" I said sobs shivering my body with each word.
She lifted her palm and wiped the stray tears on my cheek..
"They're seeing you from up there.. Don't let them see you crying.. Okay?" She said, her voice faintly above a whisper.. And on hearing those words, I forced a smile on my face.. I didn't want them to see me cry..Just then, a faint thud broke us from our sentiments and a lovely solo of "Happy birthday to you" was heard. My eyes widened in possibility of who it could be and worry paralyzed me from head to foot.
Soon, Zayn's body emerged behind the flying curtains as he carried a small cupcake with a lighted candle in his hand, yet his smile glowing brighter than it.
I'm toast!
