Chapter-2

Next morning

Savannah’s POV

Mondays should be illegal, I thought to myself as I woke up grumpily to the annoying alarm I’d set (with much trouble) on my new phone. My aunt and uncle gifted me a Samsung smart phone because “everyone carries it to school these days”

I stopped the annoying sound and woke up to the crisp morning at 6.00AM. A frown found its way up my face. Which school asks the students to report at 7 frickin’ AM?

Oh, that’s right- Tong High School!

I groaned in a very unlady-like fashion and stomped to the bathroom, to shower up. I scrubbed my sleep away and walked out in a fluffy towel and stood with my hands on my hips in front of my wardrobe.

What to wear?

I wore a black dress that ended just above my knee that had these yellow spots or something. I paired up a black jacket. I just lined my eyes with kohl and smiled at the mirror and let out a huge sigh. First day, make a good impression! I nodded determinedly to my mirror and turned around

I dumped my stuff (my phone, a few notebooks, etc) in my bag and went downstairs. My uncle was sitting on one of the dining chairs around a beautiful glass dining table. I smiled as I took a seat and said, “Good morning, uncle!”

He returned the greeting while I patiently waited for breakfast. I checked out my watch and saw that it was 6.40AM. I was gonna be late, so I walked into the kitchen to find my aunt scraping some eggs off her pan…just for one serving. I raised my eyes and turned around…Guess I wasn’t having breakfast for my first day of school after all…

As I was gonna walk away from there, my aunt’s voice spoke up, “I’ve made breakfast for you today; but if you want to eat tomorrow, make them yourself” She stated and just left.

My eyes widened a bit in surprise and gulped. This is gonna be harder than I thought.

I scarfed down my breakfast scaling hot and took my bag and a map that the school prospectus provided and began walking with my nose buried in it.

I took left and right turns according to the map, hearing the gravel on the road crunch under my boots and finally reached the school.

According to the map, I’m facing the school right now and I looked up and I saw…WOW!

In front of me stood this huge school (as compared to the one I went in India) painted a cream color and was written in green ‘Tong High School’

I walked through the gates and walked to the office building- a nice room with a few ceiling fans and people starting their jobs in glass cubicles.

I walked to a lady in the front with flaming red hair and glasses. I cleared my throat and she looked up, a smile on her face.

“Hello, how may I help you?” She asked politely.

“Um…good morning; I’m Savanna Scott…I’m new here…” I hesitated as I spoke.

She browsed through a few files and looked up with a wide beam on her face.

“Hello there, Ms. Scott. I’m Ginny McCone; welcome to Tong High School” She said and I smiled back trying to be as nice as possible.

She looked behind me and the plastic chairs and called out, “Mr. Malik?”

I followed her voice and looked behind me, to see a figure in beige chinos and a blue football shirt that read ‘Stay Real’ and a huge number ‘10’.
