'Fake Gamer Girls' (Isen)

I'm not good at rants... But seriously. The Fake Gamer Girl thing. It's so - well, I don't have any words for it. It's so sexist to assume that girls are just pretending to be gamers to attract boys or that the only games girls can play are FarmVille and Sims 3. Like, hi?! Girls like fantasy games, shooter games, action games JUST AS MUCH AS BOYS DO. What games girls like or whether they play at all is determined by their personal taste, NOT their gender!

A little bit off topic, but 'mansplaining.' Where a man explains something to a woman that she already knows or is of no concern to him, in a condescending tone. For example, a man telling a woman that we already have equal rights and don't need feminism! I'm soooo sorry, are you a woman? Do you get catcalled every day and have to live in fear of being raped? In fact, what you fear most in prisons is what we fear every single effing day walking down the sidewalks. So no, we do not need your condescending explanations.

Examples of women totally demolishing this sexism: On Tumblr, an anon submitted an ask something like: 'I hate that picture of a girl wearing the Star Wars shirt!!!!1!! I bet she hasn't even watched the movies!!1! She's just doing this to attract boys!!1!' And the response? The picture was of a girl wearing a STOP WARS shirt, in the style of the Star Wars logo. And the woman... She was Natalie Portman, who ACTED in the movies. Who hasn't watched the movies now, huh?!

Another AMAZING example: this was a Tumblr post too. Someone said they were in a store, wearing a video game shirt (Biosock Infinity III or something like that) and a man came up to them and said that they had probably not even played the game. The response? ^u^ She told him the ending! (Edit: This was a tweet commented on by Tumblr users. :3)

And the BEST ONE: Same Tumblr thread. It's up in the pic, if you can't see it, this is what it says. "I had to do this once with Privateer II: The Darkening. It gained a bit when he said "I bet you didn't play it through, I bet someone just told you how..." and I was able to smile gently and say, "God, possibly, since I wrote the game." And plainly the Deity was with me that day, as I happened to be carrying the docs from my UK agent (who'd done the deal) that showed not only was I the writer, but the five figure sum I had been paid... It was a happy day for me. Not so much for him. I'd never had a referent for the word slink for a full grown male before. As in 'slink away in utter dejection.' I smiled for at least 3 days without stopping. And am smiling now... I had completely forgotten about this."

This is amazing. This is just.. Wow..

Smash the stereotype that girls can't play video games or do tech stuff and smash the stereotype that boys can't cook or clean; give sexist mansplainers a smack down, for these stereotypes do not exist.
