Alex was flying in for the month. She was going to help me unpack and set up. I was going to set her up with Nathan. She didn't know that though. I was surprising her, at the airport with Nathan. We have grown really close over the past few days. I got dressed, I put on jeans and a 'Gallagher' tee with my red converse. I grabbed my phone and keys. Nathan was waiting outside his apartment for me.
"Ready?" I asked him. He looked up from his phone and stood up off the wall. We walked side by side down the hall. I pushed the elevator button and waited.
"So what's your friend like?" He asked breaking the silence.
"Alex," I said telling him what her name is. "She's smart, beautiful, and funny. We have known each other since ninth. She does all the same stuff I do but she is more of a girl. You'll like her, I promise." I said trying to convince him.
"Well I hope so. How long is she staying?" he asked.
"A whole month." He did a fist pump in the air almost as a sarcastic 'wooh'. I hit his arm.
"Don't be a jerk." I said scolding him.
"That's pretty hard for me to do."
"You know what's gonna be hard for you if you continue?" I said, Nathan looked at me with wide eyes.
"That's what I thought. C'mon we are going to be late." I said pushing the door open and sprinting to his Mercedes. I hopped in to passenger side and waited for Nathan. God, he is so slow sometimes. He finally got to the car.
"Let's go Grandma." I said sassing him. He gave me a glare. He pushed the key in and started it while still giving me a glare from the side. I started giggling. The song that was on the radio was so sweet. It was a classic. "Two is Better Than One" by Boys Like Girls.
"Awe, I love this song! It's so sweet." My face light up. He smiled over at me.
"Maybe this could be our song." He said, I smiled even brighter. Gosh, his smile was so beautiful. No! i thought thinking of Alex immediately.

An hour later, we finally arrived at the airport. I was so excited to see her. It had been months since I had seen my best friend. I unbuckled so quickly, Nathan was stunned. I grabbed my purse and basically sprinted into the entrance. Nathan slowly following behind. I waited for him. As usual. After twenty-four hours, he finally met up with me."Grandma." I stated again. He rolled his eyes and opened the door for me. I quitely thanked him. Suprised, actually. After you get married that kind of things don't happen. I missed being treated with respect. Owen never really did after he started drinking.
Nate and I waited at the baggage claim area for her. I was so excited, I could barely hold it in. My foot was anxiously tapping. Nathan got annoyed so he stepped on it.
"Ow, Ow, Ow" I cried. He gave me a little smirk and looked away. I puckered my lips and rolled my eyes.
"I'm done with your sh-" I began to say but was interrupted by Alex basically jumping on me. She dropped her bags, hugging me. She stepped back, still grasping my biceps. I smiled so widely, Nathan was there silent. I tilted my head slightly, signaling to Nate. She started to gasp but she contained herself.
"Alex." She introduced herself, offering her hand out.
"Nate. I know, I've heard a lot about you." He said graciously accepting the handshake. I was still smiling. I could see the chemistry already. This was going to be absolutely amazing.
"Dyl, you look more beautiful than ever." She said turning her attention back to me. I always get really awkward when it comes to compliments. I giggled lightly, "You too." I said softly, my voice cracking.
"You still haven't learned to accept compliments, I see." She said noticing my awkwardness. I rolled my eyes and grabbed her bags. Nate following with another bag.
"How many do you need?" I asked throwing her bags into the trunk of Nate's Mercades. She giggled and rolled her eyes.
"Oh la la. I see things worked out well in the divorce for you." She said admiring thr car. Her heels, clicking at every step. Her gorgeous ombre hair, flowing in the wind.
"Actually, it's his." I said pointing to Nate. She smiled and nodded, getting into his car. I got in the front seat and Alex in the back. Nate drove back to our apartment complex.

We arrived back at the complex, eventually. The car ride was awkwardly silent. There were a few questions here and there but Nate was uncomfortable around her and Alex was not a talker anyway. Nate opened the door for us allowing us to go first. She turned and raised her eyebrows giving the "mhm" face and winking at me. I smiled and walked side-by-side with Nate. I walked up the stairs considering I needed the excerise. I wasn't overweight, I was fairly skinny but not as skinny as I wanted to be. I unlocked my new apartment and said bye to Nate quickly. Alex followed. My apartment was a complete mess."So, for your first day here-" I started. I was cut off by Alex jumping repeatidly in the air, with her mouth wide open sqealing.
"I thought you were joking!" She screamed. I laughed at her and shook my head. I let her have her moment while I began to get boxes for her to unpack. He finally calmed down and straightened her clothes out and cleared her troat. I laughed at her.
"Come and help me unpack." I demanded her. She walked over to me and began to put the dishes in the cabinet with me.
"So, how is everything?" She asked softly. owen.
"It's better, I'm not moarning over it anymore. I signed him up for AA meetings. He is getting better." I said.
"Are you going to go back to him?" She asked.
"I don't think I can. I can barely say his name." I said continuing to put the dishes away.
"So, what about Nathan?" She asked. My head shot over to her. I do like him but...
