Chapter thirteen: Nightmare.

"I told you not to mess with me." The man smirked as Daryl continued to hold his crossbow in front of him.

"Just do it." I glared at the man while telling Daryl. "We need this place." And without thinking, Daryl shot the man right in the heart before he killed us first.

And from that moment on, we were not the kind of people to just let people go.

*

"Where did you put the body?" I asked as I lied down at the back of the truck, looking up at the ceiling while hearing the moans of the walkers that passed by.

"I dumped it out back." Daryl mumbled while finding himself a car and lying back in it. I lied back in the truck comfortably, taking in what we had earned as a group. Sure, we killed that man but he would have killed us otherwise. Right? I didn't know, maybe telling Daryl to kill that man was a bad idea. But he would have killed us if we didn't do anything first.

Was that the kind of person I wanted to be? We had to be, don't we? Now that the world had turned to shit, we had to change in order to survive. That was how it was and that was how it was going to stay.

"So, are we staying here or leaving tomorrow morning?" Tara asked.

"Leaving in the morning when the walkers have cleared off." Daryl repliedc putting his hands over his head and closing his eyes.

I guess I should sleep as well.

"Maggie, I found you." I rushed to hug my sister who I hadn't seen in almost a year. "It's been so long."

She grinned, showing her teeth. "I have missed you so much, Bethy." I loved it when she called me that.

"You have no idea how much we have been through." She sighed, smiling at me still.

"Same here. Daryl and I have been through hell and back just to find you." I said.

"I'm so glad you weren't alone, when I realised that no one was left at the prison I freaked out and thought the worst." She told me.

"You're always thinking the worst," I smiled, "but we're together again and I'm happy. Never leave me again."

She giggled. "Don't worry, sis. I'm never leaving your side." Daryl and Glenn were catching up and Maggie hadn't seemed to find anybody from our old group.

"No luck?" I asked, looking around this empty building.

"Not in finding the others." She sighed, disappointed.

"They're out there somewhere." I added, thinking about that awful day that tore us apart.

"One day we will be brought together again." She said, smiling towards Glenn. I was glad they found each other from the beginning. I couldn't imagine the thought of Maggie being alone in this world, knowing that I had Daryl and Maggie might have had nobody.

"Where to now?" I asked. But we were interrupted by Glenn and Daryl sprinting our way.

"Run!" Glenn yelled as a heard if walkers came our way.

Maggie grabbed my arm and took me with her unexpectedly. She soon let go of me and I was running next to Maggie while Daryl and Glenn ran up ahead to open the door.

"Come on, I'm out of bullets!" Glenn said in a hurry.

And then we heard a loud thump.

"Ah!" Maggie yelled as she tripped over her shoelace.

"Mags!" I yelled, running up to her but Daryl pulled me back as Glenn went to help her up. But he was too late. The heard was feeding on my sister.

"Come on." Daryl dragged Glenn away who had tears in his eyes.

"Maggie!" I cried as I was being dragged away as more walkers came for us. Maggie was dead and I never even got the chance to tell her that I loved her.

*

I woke up, startled by my dream. Daylight shined through the window of the shed, making me squint. I remembered my dream like it just happened. It felt like it happened in real life but it was just a dream. More like a nightmare. That was awful, we needed to find Maggie. Then I would feel better.

"We should head out." My voice echoed throughout the shed, waking nobody up. That dream seemed so real, what if it was true? No, Maggie was a survivor and Glenn would keep her safe. I was sure those two would find a way back to each other if they weren't together.

"What was that?" Daryl mumbled after rubbing his sleepy eyes.

"We shouldn't be in the same place for too long." I mentioned, getting out of the car.

"But it's nice here." Tara yawned, just waking up.

"I know it's better than out there," I began, "but I have a really bad feeling that something might happen."

"To us?" Tara asked, getting up to get a drink of water.

I nodded. "And to the others."

"It's just a feeling, Beth." Daryl yawned, checking his crossbow.

"I know that but come on, it will make me feel better." I said.

He sighed in annoyance. "Okay, just wait five minutes."

I looked outside and it looked around ten in the morning, I didn't usually sleep in this late but it was good to get some sleep. I hadn't felt this determined in a long time. I had a pretty good sleep, apart from that horrible nightmare. Was it because I had a bad feeling that somehow Maggie was dead and I was just looking for a walker instead of her human self? Maybe. Or it could be that I missed her terribly and I just wanted to find her?

"Let's go." I said, opening the door to see no walkers in sight. "Before anything else gets in our way." Daryl and Tara followed me outside into the cool fresh morning air. We walked along the train tracks, standing side by side. Next to a telephone pole, I found a flyer lying below it. I raced to pick it up and smiled as my nightmare hadn't come true just yet. "Daryl!" I yelled with excitement. "They're alive!"

I was right all along as he took the flyer from me and read it. "Maggie. "Go to Terminus, we will be there. Miss you! x -Glenn."
