Chapter seventeen: KillZone.
"No, you're wrong." I snapped as I got up from my chair.
"Who was this friend of yours?" Daryl interrupted me in a calm manner.
"Oh, he's long gone now. He escaped Terminus and came back here," Ken cleared his throat, "and the next day, he was just gone and I never saw him again."
"Are you sure it's Terminus?" I asked, biting the tips of my nails.
"Positive."
I started pacing the floor in panic. Terminus was supposed to be a safe zone for our group and they were most likely on their way. We had to find them before it was too late.
"We have to leave now!" I said to Daryl who stayed seated. "Maggie could be at Terminus, dead."
"Or she might not be there." Daryl said.
"I don't care, we have to find her." I yelled.
"Who's Maggie?" Ken asked, leaning back in his chair.
"Her sister." Daryl cut in before I got the chance to answer.
"We have to go, thank you for your hospitality." I walked out of the door in a hurry, hoping Daryl would follow.
I sat outside on the porch, watching the distance. He came out moments later. "Let's go."
I got up and we headed across the field and into the forest where a new road began. This road seemed longer than all of the others but we eventually got back onto the train tracks which should lead us to Terminus. I hoped we were not too late.
"You know," Daryl began, "Ken could have been wrong about Terminus."
"What makes you say that?" I asked.
"Well, he did seem a bit crazy. Maybe he's been out here for a long time all by himself." Daryl shrugged.
"But he still said that and Maggie could be in danger." I exclaimed, scared for my sister.
"She'll be fine, I have met her, you know? She can take care of herself." Daryl said. He had a point but I was still scared for her, anything could happen especially if she was alone. Outside was a horrible place and to be alone is was something I didn't wish on anybody. Especially family.
"I guess you're right," I finally said, "she can take care of herself but I also want to find her."
"I know," Daryl smiled, "and we will."

"I haven't seen anything for miles." I complained to Daryl as we stopped at the corner of the train tracks.
"It's not long until we reach Terminus," he looked at the map again, "we should be there soon."
I was surprised that we hadn't crossed paths with any walkers yet but I was glad. Walking through here, worried about Maggie and worrying about the walkers was too much. My thoughts trailed to school instead. Wouldn't you think I would be happy without having to go to school? Wrong. I'd rather be in summer school than have the world turn upside down.
My thoughts stopped when a group of walkers headed our way. We could easily take them out but I would rather not. Beth, would you rather die or fight for your life? Fight for my life.
"Beth, you take this side and I'll take these ones." Daryl ordered while running up to them and killing them instantly. I sighed heavily and walked up to the walkers on my side and began stabbing them one by one until they were all dead. That wasn't so hard, was it? I was feeling less and less motivated everyday. I was tired, weak, scared and worried. Where are you, Maggie?
We left the dead walkers behind and continued up along the train tracks where we saw a huge red building.
"Could that be Terminus?" I asked Daryl as we both stared at it.
"It's possible." He replied as we got closer and closer to it by the second. We came across a huge area at the end of the tracks. We both looked up to see the words Terminus written above in big black letters. We made it.
"Come on!" I rushed to the gate but Daryl stopped me before I even got the chance to move.
"Wait, we can't just go in," Daryl sighed, "we should go around it and see if there is any sign of trouble." I nodded in agreement.
We trailed around the fences to see people smiling happily and eating food cooked from the BBQ.
"This place doesn't look bad," I admitted, "Ken was wrong."
"He sure was," Daryl searched the place, "but I don't see Maggie, maybe they didn't make it."
"No, they just haven't found it yet." I whispered with a smile. Ken was wrong and this place was going to be amazing. "Let's go and find the others." I said, leaving the area and back to the where we were before.
We left Terminus with a good feeling, well at least I did. We had officially left Terminus and we were heading back, looking out for any sign of my sister and her husband. They had to be here somewhere, I just knew they were alive.
"Sh," Daryl stopped in his tracks, "did you hear that?"
I paused, listening for any sound that was heard. "Daryl?" I asked, scared. "What did you hear?"
"Walkers," he whispered, trailing back. "And a lot of them." He was right. A whole heard of walkers came towards us wanting our flesh and bones. "Run!" Daryl screamed while hoisting his crossbow over his shoulder and taking me with him.
We ran into the forest and past many trees as the walkers followed us. I was beginning to get tired as we continued to run. I heard the walkers in the distance, following us as we outran them. We wouldn't outrun them for long if I stopped for a breath. Daryl took my hand because he knew I couldn't go on but I couldn't die either. I wouldn't die today and I won't let Daryl die either.
We found an empty road with nothing around it. But I didn't notice anything until someone said our names. "Beth, Daryl?" We snapped our heads towards a group of people.
My head soon snapped towards the forest as we heard the moans. "Glenn!" Daryl smiled as we walked towards them, ready to fight these walkers together. Glenn was with unknown people that we would soon meet after we kill the walkers who were trying to kill us.
Wait. I turned my head towards them and search for the one person I had been looking for. My eyes watered and tears slipped free. Maggie's not with them and she's not with me either.
