Chapter eighteen: Half Way There.
"Shoot!" Glenn pulled out his gun just like the rest of them.
"Got em!" Daryl shouted while pulling out his crossbow.
"You'll need this." Glenn handed me a hand gun before we all started shooting at the dead. I took it and aimed it at the walkers. One by one, each shot was fired towards the dead, killing them instantly. I couldn't count how many there were but there were a lot and I knew we could do it. We could kill them all, I didn't know how many there were of us but we were doing it. We were killing them and saving ourselves.
The last shot was fired and the last walker fell to the ground. I handed Glenn his gun. "Keep it." He smiled at me.
"Thanks." I softly said as we all formed a circle.
Glenn brung me in for a hug. "I'm so glad you're okay."
"I'm so happy to see you, where's Maggie?" I asked as we broke away. Glenn ignored my question to hug Daryl and to introduce us to his new group. It made me wonder if Maggie was dead.
"This is Abraham, Rosita, Eugene and Noah." Glenn said and we all shook hands.
"Maggie." Tears came to my eyes as I whispered her name. "Is she alive?"
Glenn looked down, making the tears stream down my cheeks. "I don't know," he sighed, "we lost her."
"You lost her?" I cried.
"She went the other direction while walkers were coming at us." Glenn finished making me cover my mouth with my hand.
"We have to find her." I wiped my eyes.
"I know." Glenn said softly as he placed a hand on my shoulder. "Have you heard about Terminus?"
I looked towards Daryl and he nodded. "Yes, we have been there and it looks okay."
"You went there? Why didn't you stay?" Abraham cut in while the others stood around, keeping guard.
"We only looked through the fences, the people were happy," I smiled, "like they were already at home."
Glenn smiled. "If we go there then Maggie will go there."
Daryl dug inside his pocket to retrieve something. He handed the map to Glenn. "Found this."
Glenn smiled. "I hope she got it. I wrote a few of these around this area."
I touched his arm. "She will come back to us."
Glenn smiled. "She will."
"So are we heading to Terminus or what?" Abraham said, getting inpatient.
"We are." Glenn replied with a smile.
*
"Did you see anyone get out?" Glenn asked as we travelled along back to where we came from.
"No," Daryl said, "it was just us as far as we knew of."
"I'm sorry about your dad, Beth. He was a good man." Glenn softly smiled at me.
"Thanks." I replied with a sad smile.
As we travelled through the forest, we entered another road with a car in the middle of it. We all gathered around the car and took a break and from a distance, I saw a shadow.
I leaned against the car. "Is that a walker?"
"Yes." Glenn said as he walked up to the thing and killed it.
"We should stay out here tonight, I want to see if Maggie will come past here." Glenn came back and wiped the blood off his knife.
"Don't be stupid," Abraham said, "we can't stay out here."
"Sure we can," Eugene smiled, "I want Maggie to come back as well."
"Jesus," Abraham growled, "I'm going to take a leak." Abraham walked off deep into the forest in a huff.
"I could really use a cigarette." Daryl complained and Rosita got Abraham's bag and dug something out.
"Here, don't tell him I took it." Rosita smiled and handed a box to Daryl with a lighter.
"Thanks." Daryl took it and lit it up.
He seemed more relaxed now as he leaned against the car as I still did even though the smell was drifting in my direction. These people seemed nice and I was glad Glenn wasn't alone when Maggie went missing but now she was alone and she was lost. I wished she was here. It took a long time to find at least somebody that we knew from the prison and I hoped it didn't take as long to find Maggie.
But we would find her.

Looking up at the stars was a big relief as I thought of him. The guy who saved my life on many occasions and sometimes, I saved his.
Daryl Dixon, thank you.
The stars shined beautifully tonight as we all rested on the road as Daryl took the first watch. I got up because I couldn't sleep.
"Hey." I whispered, trying not to wake the others up.
"Hey." He replied softly. He held his crossbow while watching the fields for anything unusual.
"How are you doing?" I asked, looking at him as he looked the other way.
"I'm doing okay," he kept looking away, "you?"
"I'm happy," I smiled, "but not completely."
He turned my way as I continued to smile. "Because of Maggie?"
I nodded. "I fear that she's alone in this world and I can't do nothing about it."
"She's a big girl," Daryl said, "she'll come back to you."
"I know." I faintly said, not truly believing it.
"You should get some sleep," Daryl said, "I've got this."
I nodded. "Okay, goodnight."
"Night." He said as I left back to my space where I laid down again. I looked up at the stars before I drifted off to sleep. I hoped my dreams would be better tonight.

It was the middle of the afternoon and we were about to head to Terminus. I didn't want to leave, Maggie could be close. I hoped she was still alive and safe somewhere it better yet, at Terminus.
Suddenly, my eyes drifted to something in the distance, it was moving slowly and it fell to the ground. She looked tired but I was glad I knew exactly who it is.
"Glenn," I said, "Is that?"
"Maggie." He raced towards her with a smile and I let them have their moment.
