Chapter 17

I stretched my arm out beside me, my left arm limp at my side.

Wind swirled around me. I closed my eyes and leaned my head back into the wind, my hair swirling wildly around me. Fire climbed up from my finger tips and my feet, filling me with a comforting warmth that I hadn't felt in almost a year. I smiled as I felt the familiar tingling sensation of my Change. My bones cracked and popped, fusing in different places, yet it all remained painless.

Feathers appeared on my skin as the fire brushed over it. My wings grew from my back and both my arms raised on their own accord to fuse to my wings. I inwardly flinched when I felt my muscles in my left wing pinch for a second before relaxing. I turned my head and looked over as the fire dissapated, little webs of scars covering my entire left wing from where my old man had bit me.

I was a phoenix. Firey, mighty, and proud. Or so people think.

I jumped into the air, flapping my wings experimentally, seeing if I still had it.

I did.

I let out my call; Bunny described it as a choir singing. It echoed around me, probably reaching the crowd of girls left over in front of the hotel even though it was nearly 11 o'clock at night. I started walking around, fire being left in my wake. I walked over to the ledge and looked down at the giant crowd, even though it was around 11 at night, and dove off the ledge, barreling straight for them. I heard a few people scream just before I pulled up, spreading my 10 foot wings and flying over their heads.

I flapped my wings and flew over the city, the moon lighting my way. I had to get to Nashville as soon as I could, then to Stone Henge. Thats where all our Death Matches were held. Thats actually the main purpose of it, it was built by the very first cursed of my ancestors.

Well, lets just hope I got there soon before Bunny told the boys what I was doing.

Atleast she didn't know, yet.

*4 hours later*

*WOOHOO NIALLS POV BITCHES*

I couldn't believe she actually just did that. She just knocked her father out and left him lying on the ground, then changed and left.

Its been a little bit over 4 hours since she left and 2 since her dad had woken up, given us a glare and left. Paul told us that Nix went on a walk, just like she had told us. I had a feeling he was hiding something from us, though.

The boys were still in our (still considers it his and Phoenix's room cuz he doesn't know she's left for good) room, still sitting dumbstruck on the couch, muttering in wonder and fear about what Nix had done to her old man for making the smallest move to harm us. I felt bad about the way we reacted and I could see the hurt obvious in her eyes, even though she didn't show it on her face.

Finally, someone said something, "How long has she been gone?" Zayn asked, worry evident in his voice.

"About 4 hours, we did a good job of pissing her off this time. Do you think she'll come back?" Liam answered, his own question up to boot.

We didn't get the chance to answer because the door was slammed open by none other than Bunny, tears running down her cheeks. I saw a stack of letters in her right hand and an open letter in her left, "She's not coming back." She answered.

We all shot up from our spots, guilt snapping through us, "What do you mean 'she's not coming back'?" Harry asked, confusion thick in his voice.

"Read the letters she wrote to you. It explains them." She answered by throwing the letters at our feet and sitting at the table, her letter clutched in her hands.
