Chapter 22

"Violet, Violet baby please wake up." I open my eyes and I am blinded my light. Where am I? Am I in some after life? "Guys, she's awake. She is going to be fine." I force my eyes to focus on the person hovering above me, and when I finally do, I know that I am definitely in the after life.

"Jaiden? Where am I? Are we in the after life together?" I am crying by this point. My body is shaking with the harsh sobs that are hitting it. I never thought that I would get to see Jaiden again, and I can hardly handle the sight of him.

"No baby, we survived. We won the war." Jaiden whispers and kisses my forehead. I look around me and I see all of the people I love, all of the people I thought were dead. I focus on Nicole and Daemon, Nicole is crying and hugging Daemon tightly while he tries to comfort her.

"You died. I saw you die. I felt you die." I am hysterical by this point and I can hardly catch my breath.

"No baby, the bullet missed both Daemon and Nicole. As for me, I'm mated to the White Wolf, it comes with some perks, like the ability to be hard as hell to kill. You were the only one that was seriously injured." He has tears rolling down his face, and for the first time I notice that I am no longer bleeding, and neither is he.

"So I just imagined everything? No one died? What about the pack house?" I spitting out questions like they a wild fire.

"Cole knew that David would send people there. He got everyone out and intercepted David's men. David thinks that everyone is dead and that the house is in flames. Cole impersonated one of the men and called David to let him know."

"No one died?"

"Only a few, and we will properly mourn them. But right now, I have got some of my best men tracking David, and I know exactly where he is."

"Let's go get the bastard." I demand and, with the help of Jaiden, I stand up. We are still in David's pack house, but it looks nothing like it did when I thought I was dying. The people that were on the ground didn't have familiar faces like I thought they did, they were complete strangers. Although I still mourned their death, I could taste the relief that came with knowing that the people I loved were still alive.

"Violet," Nicole breathed a sigh of relief and pulled me into a tight hug. "You should have seen it; it was so cool. Your wounds were glowing as your wolf fixed it. Jaiden looked like a lantern when his wounds started glowing like yours."

"Glowing?" I question weakly. I grab onto Jaiden for support, not emotionally ready for him to leave me just yet.

"It comes with the title. Your wolf is extremely powerful, and when she sensed that her mate was dying, she latched onto his wolf and they both were able to heal his wounds fast enough." Nicole explained, leaning into Daemon. I rub my temples, feeling my headache forming.

"I think I'm in a sci-fi movie." Those were my iconic words as my legs collapsed and Jaiden had to catch me.

"Take it easy baby, you were hit pretty hard. You did amazing though." He pulled me into his arms and carried me outside. David's yard was covered in pack members that were helping clean up the wreckage. He made his way to an unknown car and placed me in the passenger seat before walking around to the driver's seat. Nicole and Daemon slid into the backseat as Jaiden started up the car. I felt like I was watching everything in slow motion. I was sure that the next time I blinked they would disappear. None of it felt real.

"Baby, it's real. We are alive. I am alive." Jaiden grabs my hand and presses a kiss to it, making me break down into loud sobs. I think I am in shock, and I really don't know what to do about it.

I feel the car pull over and Jaiden and Daemon switch places. Jaiden pulls me into the back seat and Nicole quickly moves to the front. Jaiden wraps his arms around me tightly and pulls me in for a long kiss. "It's over. My men just picked up David and they are taking him to the pack house as we speak."

"It's really over?" I ask tearfully with my face pressed into his shoulder.

"It's really over baby. Me and you can actually live our lives now." Jaiden reassures me again, with tears in his eyes. I pull him in for another kiss, smiling now that I realize that we are actually free. Jaiden turned my life upside down, in the best way possible. He saved me from myself, and now we can finally be together without any fear.
