Chapter 18

We walked to the car in comfortable silence. When we reach the car he pulls me into a warm hug, "That wasn't so bad was it?"

"I guess it wasn't that bad...." I teased quietly, causing him to chuckle and hug me tighter.

"That's the spirit! It could be worse!" He exclaimed happily and let me out of the hug and started to make his way towards the car. He opened the door for me, making me shyly smile and step in.

We were driving home peacefully when I looked over at him. He looked absolutely beautiful from this angle, and all I could think about was what I would do to kiss him right now.

"What are you looking at?" He asked with a goofy smile on his face.

"Nothing, just thinking that if you weren't driving right now I would kiss you." I teased, knowing that he couldn't do anything about it.

"Oh really? Hmmmm we'll have to do something about that then" He teased back and started slowing down the car. I looked at him questioningly and in reply he pulled the car over. Before I could question him further he had gently pressed our lips together. By the time we separated I was breathless and slightly dizzy.

"What was that?" I whispered in astonishment.

"Well, you said you wanted to kiss me" He smirked cockily. I slapped his shoulder and stuck out my tongue at him childishly. His only reply was a soft smile as he pulled back onto the quiet street.

By the time we got back to the house I was slightly sleepy and in need of a cup of hot tea. Jaiden decided that we would stay at his private house for a couple of days, too give us some much needed privacy.

"Do you have any hot tea in this house?" I demanded while walking into the kitchen and rummaging through the cabinets.

"Maybe, I don't really know, most people don't drink hot tea." He replied sheepishly as I groaned. I pause in my search as he wraps his arms around my waist. I smile and lean back into his chest as he rests his chin on my shoulder. "I can make you hot chocolate if you want?" He suggests and I nod my head. I jump onto the counter and watch as he floats around the kitchen, he looked like he had been doing this for years.

"Are you a cook?" I ask curiously, making him chuckle softly. I should have known better, if his sister's skills were anything to judge.

"No, but I know how to make hot chocolate." He smiled softly at my shocked gaze.

"I had no idea! My mate can actually do something in the kitchen!" I teased causing him to smirk slightly.

"I like to focus my talents in another region, if you know what I mean," He teased causing blood to rush to my cheeks. I quickly put my hand over his mouth and look at him with wide eyes.

"That isn't a very polite thing to say in public," I whispered, embarrassed, and looked around to make sure none of the guards heard. Jaiden chuckled quietly and shook his head gently.

"You're so adorable," He smiled, I was about to smile back when we heard a loud crash from outside.

"What was that?" I ask skeptically, and gave Jai a frightened look. He quickly pulls me down from the counter and places me in the corner. "Where are the guards?

"I don't know. I'm trying to mind link them, but they aren't responding." When there is another bang Jaiden presses me behind him. "Stay here while I check it out. Do not move. If anyone comes in, scream." He demanded and crept towards the door. He yanked the front door open and made his way outside. As soon as he walked outside I heard another sound from behind me. I twirled around quickly to see him standing there. The one man I prayed that I would never see again. David.

"Well hello princess, how you doing?" He smirked and gave me a wink. I quickly grab the closet object to me and throw it at him, hoping to buy me enough time to get to Jaiden.

"JAIDEN," I screamed and started running towards the door, trying to warn him about David. But before I could reach it, something pierced my neck, a dart. I fell to the ground hopeless. I knew that David had killed the guards, that's the only explanation on why they weren't already here. We were completely secluded at this house and none of the pack members were here. David was going to kill the love of my life, my mate, and I couldn't even stop him. The last thing I saw before I closed my eyes was David placing a single pink tulip on the ground beside my head.
