Chapter 13

I'm rushing around the room making sure I have everything, and all Jaiden is doing is laying there. Not doing shit. Doesn't he understand we need to leave in 5 minutes? He needs to get his lazy butt off that bed and look decent. I guess it also doesn't help that I'm burning up, and I'm frustrated, more ways than one, and every time anybody other than Jaiden touches me, it hurts like hell. I'm freaked out that there's a possibility that Nicole will want to give me one of her famous hugs and end up hurting me. Jaiden's eyes follow me as I rush around the room and gather all my stuff, camera included.

"Jaiden! Get dressed! We need to leave in 2 minutes!" I finally snap, breathing heavily.

"Darling, I've been ready for an hour now. You need to calm down and breath." He said soothingly and slides off the bed and makes his way towards me. When he reaches me, he pulls me into a tight hug and forces me to calm down. His touch is sending sparks through my body, making me want to go crazy. His touch, in a way, is like cold glass of water after walking through the desert. I don't want to let him go, but I know I have too or we'll be late and Nicole will kill me... literally.

"Ok, I'm better now, sorry for snapping at you. This heat is driving me crazy and everyday that goes by gets worse and I don't want to lose our bet but I'm tired of this constant pain." I whimper and press my face into Jaiden's neck.

"Darling, there are other ways than going all the way to relieve your pain. I know you don't want to do any of those because of your stupid pride, but I can't stand watching you toss and turn in your sleep and whimper every time someone touches you! I don't know how long this will last, but it will keep getting worse! Let me help you," He begged and hugged me tighter.

"Fine, but later! We still need to meet with my sister." I sighed, and kissed his neck before pulling back and smiling up at him as his eyes filled with relief.

"Thank you Nightingale" He smiled.

"Oh for Pete's sake! Stop calling me that!" I groaned and hit his shoulder before heading down stairs. Daemon was waiting down there for us with a goofy smile on his face.

"Dude what are you so happy about?" I questioned and gave him a weird look, I don't think I have ever seen Daemon this happy.

"I don't really know, my wolf is just happy for some reason" He explained and gave me another wide smile.

"Jaiden! Something's wrong with your Beta!" I call up the stairs and watch Daemon cautiously out of the corner of my eye.

"Lets go ahead and head to the car," I said cautiously as Daemon starts singing "You are my sunshine". I quickly walk out the door, hoping that Daemon will calm down when he realizes that we'll be in a car for 2 hours together.

"Hey Daemon you ready for two hours together?" I teased and started laughing when he stopped walking in shock.

"T-two hours?" He stuttered, "Jaiden said 30 minutes!" He complained

"Oops" Jaiden smirked and slapped Daemons shoulder as he headed towards the car. After begging for hours' yesterday, Jai finally agreed to let me drive my car to the café. Of course him and Daemon are riding with me, but at least I get to drive my own car and don't have to drive one of those fancy cars that they have. It was also decided that I would drive last night when Jai realized that he had no idea where the coffee shop was and I was the only one who did.

After we all piled into my small car I shifted into drive and we began our two-hour journey.

"I don't care if you have a mole on your right butt cheek. I don't care if you changed your part. Hell I don't even care if you got your teeth knocked out when you were 10. Just shut your mouth and let me drive in peace" I finally snapped at Daemon. He has been talking for an hour and a half straight. I'm not kidding, I set a timer on my phone to see how long he would talk. Jaiden seems to be used to it because he is able to sleep peacefully in the seat beside me, but no matter how loud I turn up the music I can't drown out that kids annoying voice. He isn't normally like this, he normally knows when to shut up but today he's acting like he had a macchiato with 4 shots of espresso in it. All I need is 30 minutes of peaceful silence, then he can tell me about his birthmark or he can tell me about how he managed to get his teeth knocked out. Him and Nicole would be best friends, she never fails to talk off my ear or to remind me of all our epic fails we had as kids.

"Sorry," He mumbled sheepishly.

"Darling, no need to be so harsh," Jai teased, reaching over the gearshift to put his hand on my thigh. That jerk! He made me think that he was asleep the whole time! He was enjoying my annoyance with Mr. Chatty Kathy back there.

"Easy for you to say, you've dealt with him your whole life," I grumbled, causing Jaiden to chuckle. His hand on my thigh distracted me enough to keep me from staying mad at him at him for long. We sat in peaceful silence for a glorious 30 minutes before we pulled up to the coffee shop. After a quick glance around the parking lot I noticed Nicole's purple Volz Wagon Beetle. Before anyone could get out I quickly lock the doors.

"Alright, before we go in, I need y'all to promise that you won't act like complete fools. Nicole is still mad about what David did to me so she may be a little wary of y'all, so don't feel offended is she snaps at you." I say warily. Nicole never liked the thought of me dating somebody like David, but then that idiot had to go and prove her right so now she is overly protective of me dating any boy that looks like he's from the wrong side of town, and sadly, Jaiden fits that description perfectly.

"Sweetie, it's ok. We won't do anything." Jaiden gives me a quick kiss on the cheek and rubs my thigh soothingly, although I don't think it had the desired effect as the heat sent my body into overdrive. I close my eyes tightly and take deep breaths. I snap open my eyes and look at the café.

"Alright let's do this shit," I said determinedly before remembering one thing, "Oh and Daemon if you hit on my sister, your ass is mine." I threatened and gave him a sweet smile before climbing out of the car and walking inside.

A crazy blue eyed blonde haired girl immediately tackled me when I walked in. When me and Nicole were 16, my gift to her was paying for her to go get hair dyed blonde professionally. Of course, my mom later grounded both of us for a month, but Nicole loved her blonde hair and still gets it redone to this day. She always hated her brown hair for some reason, and was always begging my mom to let her get it done. Of course her gift to me is still unknown by my mom and dad, she surprised me by taking me to a professional tattoo parlor and paid for me to get an old willow tree tattooed on my side, along my rib cage. The old willow tree actually is this tree that we found when we were kids, we would always go there when we got in trouble or we were frustrated, but one day when I was 15 I went by the tree, because my date ditched me at prom, and somebody had cut it down. Needless to say, I was devastated.

"I've missed you so much Violet! The house isn't the same without you," Nicole complained, interrupting my thoughts. "I wish you would come back," She whined making me roll my eyes

"Nicole, you know why I left" I tried to reason with her, but she only rolled her eyes

"Because of that jerk, I know" She grumbled, making me smile. I heard someone clear his throat from behind us, reminding me that we weren't alone.

"Nicole, this is Jaiden my uhh boyfriend. Jaiden this is Nicole, my sister." I introduced them and tried to ignore the way Nicole's eyes started to narrow, "And this is Daemon, Daemon this is Nicole, my sister" I said and gave Daemon a warning look as he turned to look at Nicole, but he didn't seem to see anyone but her and, strangely enough, she didn't seem to see anyone but him.

"Mine" He softly growled before pulling Nicole into his chest and slamming his lips onto hers. I stood there, shell shocked as I realized what just happened... Nicole and Daemon are mates, as in my sister is mated to the Beta of a pack that is currently about to go to battle with my crazy ex.
