Chapter 8

                                  Chapter 8:

When I wake up Jaiden has my bags packed and loaded into the car. When I make my way downstairs he wordlessly grabs my hand and we get into the car. The trip to the pack house is filled with small talk and laughter. When we finally pull up to the house, I am amazed. The house is huge, and it's more of an estate. It is surrounded by a big field and endless amounts of woods.

"How about we drop off our stuff and then I'll show you around?" Jai suggests earning a big smile from me and a quick nod. He shows me to his room, where we will both be sleeping, and he helps me get settled. After everything is unpacked I look at him expectantly.

"So, are you going to show me around or not?" I demand jokingly and grin at him.

"So demanding," He jokes and wraps his arm around me, handing me my camera. He leads me downstairs and out of the back door.

"So where are we going?" I question as he starts walking towards the woods.

"It's a surprise," He gives me a wink, refusing to answer my question. We walk in a comfortable silence for a few minutes before I hear the rushing sound of water. It only takes a few more steps before I see where the source of the sound is. There is a beautiful waterfall surrounded by wildflowers and trees.

"It's so beautiful," I whisper, not wanting to disturb the peace

"Almost as beautiful as you" Jaiden spoke from behind me.

"How did you find this?" I ask breathless. Although it didn't take long for us to get here, it was complicated. The waterfall is definitely well hidden.

"I'm a werewolf remember? I have heightened hearing." He explained, "I also have a heightened sense of smell, but you already know that since that is how I found you."

"What is my scent like?" I look at him excitingly, I don't know why I am not weirded out more by the fact that he can smell me, but it doesn't really bother me.

"It's more of a peppermint? Like a candy cane peppermint!" He tried to explain, "It smells like the gum you are always chewing."

"That's so cool! What kind of scent do you have? Can only werewolves smell it?" I ask excitedly. He looks a little shocked that I'm not grossed out, but he doesn't protest

"I've been told that I smell like oak wood, but I'm not very sure."

"I wanna see if I can smell!" I stand up on my tippy toes and try to smell his neck, but I couldn't smell anything. "I can't smell anything!" I pout. When I lean back to look at his face his eyes are dark with something that I can't identify. He gently presses me against a tree before pressing his lips to mine. When he tries to pull away I just yank him back and kiss him harder. When I eventually let him pull away, we are both gasping for breath.

"Wow," He breathed.

"I'm so sorry, I don't know what came over me!" I blush and hide my face in his shirt.

"Don't worry, I don't mind," He chuckled. I gently push him away turn on my camera.

"What's your pack name? Are their other packs?" I question and lift my eyes to his, desperate to change the subject.

"My pack is known as Starlight pack, and yes there are other packs around. You are now the official Luna of the Starlight pack."

He smiled at my shocked expression. "You sound like a Disney channel show," I squeak and he narrowed his eyes at me. I look at his eyes for a moment, trying to see if he's lying, "Wow, and I'm guessing Luna means an Alphas mate" I guess and he nodded and waited for my reaction.

"Well.... I hope you're ready to teach me more but right now, I'm gonna go take some pictures and think about what you just told me." With those final words I turn to my paradise and take a bunch of pictures

"Do you really think the pack name sounds like a Disney show?" Jaiden looks at me curiously.

"Yeah, I'm sorry, but there are better names." I give him a sheepish smile and his face glows in embarrassment.

"You know you're gonna eventually have to let me go get my car right" I tell Jaiden, trying to change the subject as we walk back.

"How about tomorrow?" He offers.

"You know I meant alone right?" I question and wait for the outburst that I know will follow.

"Yeah, that's not happening" He states.

"You know there's this thing called trust right?" I snap angrily.

"Yeah, and I trust you but I won't let my mate leave this house unprotected, especially with David." He snaps back

"Who's gonna get me? The big bad wolf? If David was about to make a move, we would know." I taunt

"Don't test me princess," He growls and pulls me to a stop.

"D-don't call me that" I stutter as the memories come back full force. I am forced to relive the worst part of my life.

"Sweetie are you all right" Jaiden asks worriedly and reaches to pull me into a hug. But I wasn't seeing Jaiden anymore, I was seeing David and his slimy smirk.

"NO! DAVID DON'T TOUCH ME!" I scream and try to run away into the woods, but I trip on a root and bang my head on a rock. I curl up in a ball and sob into my knees, whimpering and waiting for the blow. But it never came. Instead I felt someone pull me onto their lap and rock me back and forth. I slowly peek through my hands and start crying in relief.

"Jaiden," I sob into his chest and wrap my arms tightly around him.

"I'm right here, don't worry I'm not going to hurt you." He spoke soothingly and rubbed circles in my back. I nod and close my eyes, hoping that sleep will take over and I don't have to remember the memories anymore, and finally after about 5 minutes I sink into a dreamless sleep.

Jaiden's POV

Seeing her like that made a part of me want to cry. But the bigger part of me wanted to hunt down the bastard that did this to her and rip him to shreds. I force myself to calm down so I don't scare her even more. I glance down and notice that she is fast asleep in my arms. I carefully pick her up, making sure that I don't wake her. I think it is about time I figure out exactly what this David guy did to her.
