Chapter 9: Surprise

Jayden's POV
"Hazel"

"Hey" she said sounding panicked.

"Everything okay.?" I asked

"Yeaa, just a bad dream" she said sounding like she had the sniffles.

Bad dream.?

"Tell Me about it" I said.

"I will when we see each other"

"On my way." I hung up the phone.

I picked up my jacket and my keys. Shit I gotta shower. But what if she really needs me.? I'll just shower over there. I grabbed a pair of jeans and a t shirt with boxers.

Rushing out the house I hopped on my bike and trailed my way to Hazel's house. This has to mean something... I just feel like we connect in a way and I feel the need to protect her.

Ashley's POV

"He just hung up on me" I said pouting. He really must not know who I be. I know he didn't just hang up on me.

"Jayden.?" My mom said.

"Yeaa, he's on his way here." I said smiling.

"Y'all are sure together a lot. Are you guys together.?"

"Momm no, he's just a friend, that I just so happen to like, a little."

"Well either way I'm on board, I like this one. He makes you really happy."she smiled

"He spends a lot of time with me, he pays attention to me, and buys me things. I mean I know a lot of guys do that but, there's something about him. He's different." I'm so lost in my own world, he's there, everywhere. Mostly when I need him and I love that.

"Why does he call you hazel.?" She asked still sitting beside me on my bed looking curious.

"That night at the hospital when Brian died. he was sitting across from me. He looked like he needed a friend so I went to go sit next to him. I could tell He was hurt and I was hurt. He looked at me And I told him that "God doesn't give you anything that you can't handle, remember that." Then we cried for a while, after a few minutes you came so I had to go and on my way out he grabbed my wrist looking up he said "thanks hazel, I'll remember that." Thinking back at that I should've known we would meet again.

"Oh my gosh and why am I just now hearing this Ashley.?"she said In a pitchy voice.

Knock knock

"Mom can you go get the door.? Thanks, imma get dressed."

She left out of the room.

I grabbed a black dress out of the closet and ran to the bathroom to get dressed.

Doing my little dance in the bathroom while brushing my teeth. I put my arms in and out while my hands were in fist. While spinning.

"He's here to see me, he's here to see me, he's here to see me.!" Yayy. It's like I have little butterflies in my stomach. I thought I had forgotten what that feels like.

Walking out the bathroom I had on my knee high fitted black dress.

"I'm strutting, I'm strutting, I'm cute" I repeated while doing my model walk in the hallway and flipping my hair. Yasss.! I'm so happy I thought while lifting my hands in the air and waving them like I just don't care.

"Hazel"

"Hahahahahahahahahaha aren't you happy this morning, whyyy didn't you tell me we were going to church.? *pause* Well praise god let's go." He's laughing at me.

Embarrassed I said "um I was trying to tell you" now my heart is pounding out of my chest. "I have to go put my shoes on".

"Hazel.?" I slowly turned around. He started smiling . "Nice ass" he said laughing.

Jayden's POV

Her face is tomato red. It's hilarious seeing her blush so hard. I can't stop laughing, what type of dancing was she doing. Cute.

"Ha ha very funny, laugh it up, whatever, Rose is gonna meet us at the church btw."

I ran to her bedroom to get dressed.

"You guys! Time to go before we're late" I heard Ellie yell.

"Hazel time to go." I said

Walking down the steps she was right next to me... "Sooo when Will we talk about that dream" it's been on my mind all morning... Maybe I should just let it go. After I asked that it seemed like her whole mood just changed.

Walking out the door, she still hasn't answered my question... So is that a never.?

"Ellie I'll take my bike..
I'll just follow behind you guys." I said as they were walking towards her blue Honda. I want to show Ashley something after church so...

It didn't take long for us to arrive to the church. The words on the building read new life. It's for any religion I'm assuming.

When I got out of my car there was rose. With jeans and a t shirt. I don't feel so underdressed anymore.

"Hey rose"

"Hey jayden" she said while she was practically drooling over me.

"Hellooooo rose... My best friend... The one that's suppose to me focused on god at the moment" hazel said snapping in her face "snap out of it and come on you loon " she said awkwardly laughing

"Ohh Yeaa, I have a surprise for you on the inside babes." Rose said excitingly. Well I know she's not talking to me..

Walking into the crowded building rose stopped. Some guy in khaki pants and a black t shirt was standing in front of us

"Well don't look so excited." He said. his voice being a pitch higher than mines

"Jake I cannot believe you." She stated.

Ohhhh... Jake... The friend

"Are you still mad at me.?" He said trying to pout. I'm sure I can do that face much better. He looks kinda constipated. Wait, house of God, no judging. I smiled.

"First you just up and leave with out telling me then you don't answer any of my text now you just show back here and want us to pretend like you didn't just fall from the face of the earth." "Why would you do that I really missed you" she said smiling but looked like she was about to cry

"So that's a Yes.?"he said with a smile on his face. Yo I just thought that this morning.

"Well hey I'm jayden" I said introducing myself.

"Kids time to go church has started." Ellie said not paying attention, she turned around "Jake.! Haven't seen you in a while, I've missed you" she said giving him a hug.

I started walking into the room everyone else was walking towards. I found a whole empty row and sat on it.

The church service was good. The pastor preached about not losing who you are and how god doesn't give you anything that you can handle. Stay strong.! .... I've been hearing that a lot.

"Hey jayden do you think that we could just hang out later instead.? Just so me and Jake can catch up.?" Hazel asked.

Damn...she's ditching me...that's okay. That's fine, okay.

"Sure" I said with a smile "it was nice to meet you Jake."
