Chapter 10

Tyler's POV

I am such a fucking idiot. I should've never broke up with Lily. I am back at school and I see her every day. She is so depressed just like I am. She doesn't even stand up for herself anymore. "Hey cripple seems you lost your girlfriend. Guess I am free to tap that now." Brad said. I growled and went to punch him. "Hey calm down." Lucas said stopping me. "Don't you dare call my friend a cripple. I know things that could get you expelled from this school so fast so I suggest you shut the fuck up. I don't even know how you got your ass back into this school." Lucas said. Brad nodded and ran off scared. "Thanks." I said wheeling off. "Dude, I know you are hurting too. I know you love her. I know you wish you didn't break things off." He said. I nodded. "She will never take me back." I said. I looked over and saw Axel comforting her. He and his mom moved back here. She looked over and saw me. She started crying and Axel held her. "Lucas, I was so stupid." I said starting to cry. "You need to talk to her." He said. "I can try." I said. He nodded and walked off to go have lunch with Lily and Axel. I went to the library. Halfway through lunch Axel walked in. "You know I should punch you right now but I'm not going to do that." He said. "I know and I appreciate that you aren't." I sighed. "Tyler, you are going to walk again so I don't understand why you pushed her away." He said. "I know I won't be able to walk again. I can only feel my legs and move my toes. I can't stand. I can't walk." I said. He sighed. "Dude, that girl has loved you since we were five. She told me she was going to marry you some day. You need to apologize." He said. I nodded. "Can you help me try something real quick?" I asked him getting a boost of confidence. He nodded. "Just help me try to stand up." I said moving my legs off the wheel chair with my hands. He held one of my arms and I pushed up off the table and tried to use my leg muscles. "Tyler, you're standing." Axel screamed. "Let go." I said. He removed his arm and I stood there. I went to try and take a step and fell on my face. "Tyler." He said. He helped me sit up. "I'm fine. At least I can stand while holding onto something." I said. He nodded. All of a sudden we heard a terrifying scream. "THAT'S LILY!" I screamed. Axel helped me into my wheelchair and he ran off towards the direction of the scream. He pushed me as fast as we could and we found Brad having her pinned up against the wall making out with her. "Hey asshole, get off my girlfriend!" I screamed. Brad let go of her and faced me. "What are you gonna do about it cripple? You can't stand or walk. She isn't even your girlfriend." He said. Axel went to punch him but I stopped him. I stood up carefully. Lily's jaw dropped. "Back the fuck away from her now or I will kill you." I said. "Come and get me." Brad said. I couldn't walk so I stayed still. "The cripple can stand but not walk." Brad laughed. He punched me right in the face and I fell down. Lily rushed to my side but I pushed her away. "Axel, get her out of here." I groaned. He nodded and took her away. "You know I will get her Purdy. Just give up." Brad said kicking me in the ribs. "To think we actually used to be friends." I coughed as he walked away. I lifted myself up and sat against the wall. "Tyler." Someone said softly. It was Jacqueline and Theo. "What happened?" she asked whipping away some blood on my face. "Brad." I sighed. Theo helped me up in my chair. "Come on. Let's go to class." Jacqueline said as she pushed my chair. "Thanks guys." I said. "Not a problem." Theo said patting my shoulder. We got to class and Robin looked at me worried. "Tyler, what the hell happened?" she asked. "Don't worry. I'm gonna be fine." I said. She nodded and hugged me. Jacqueline took her seat next to Robin and Theo sat next to me. "Ty, you are my best friend but so help me god if you do not fix things with Lily I will beat your ass. I hate seeing you this depressed." He said. "I know. I don't like being this way either." I sighed. School was over and I waited outside for Theo to drive me home. "Get in my car now." Lily said pulling up in front of me. "No, I can wait for Theo." I said. "Tyler Michael Purdy, so help me god if you don't get in this car." She said as he voice cracked. I nodded. I rolled over to her car and opened the door. I climbed in and she placed the wheel chair in the back. We got to my house and no one was home. "You promised me you would never leave." She whispered as she sniffled. "I'm sorry Lily. I was trying to do what was best for you." I said. "You are what is best for me. You make me happy. You keep away the nightmares." She said shaking. "The demons are gonna get me." She whispered. "Lily, I promise you nothing will ever hurt you. They are just dreams." I said. "Nightmares, that cripple me with fear. I have night terrors." She screamed. "Lily, I can't do this to you. I want you to be able to do couple things not having to push me around everywhere being miserable helping me." I said as she got my chair out of the car. I climbed in it and we headed inside. "Tyler, I love you. I don't care what I have to do to help you." She said. I sat on my butt on the stairs and pushed myself up to my room. "Let me help you." She said. "No, you shouldn't have to. This is why I don't want us to be together. I don't want you to have to help me with every thing." I said. I climbed up to my bed and laid down. "Lily, this isn't the kind of life I want for you." I said. She sighed and shut my door. "Tyler Purdy, I love you so much. I am going to show you how much I love you." She said straddling my waist. "Lily, no I can't. I love you so much it breaks my heart to not be with you but I'm not the guy for you anymore." I said. "Shut up and let me show you." She said kissing me. She removed my shirt and kissed me down my chest.

Lily's POV

Tyler's arms were wrapped around me tightly as I rested my head on his chest. "Are you in any pain?" he asked. I was but it was worth it. "Yeah, but nothing I can't handle." I said kissing his cheek. "Lily, I know this is going to make me a real asshole but I still don't want to do this to you." He said. My heart broke. I climbed out of his bed and pulled on my clothes. I threw my hair up and grabbed my bag. "I just gave you my virginity. I love you so much that I trusted you with it. I don't understand why you don't want to make this work. I don't care if you walk or not. I'd make myself cripple just to be with you." I screamed at him. I ran out of his room. "Lily, wait." He screamed. I heard a thud upstairs. I was worried he fell but I grabbed my shoes and began to put them on. "Lily." He yelled. I saw him at the top of the stairs but he was standing. He struggled walking down the stairs. I had tears in my eyes. "Lillian Rose Torres, I love you with all my heart. Please don't leave me. I was wrong so wrong and stupid." He said. I placed one hand on his cheek and kissed him softly. "Please don't leave me." I whispered. "I never will. I was so stupid. I am man enough for you. It shouldn't matter if I walk or not." He said. I slipped off my shoes. We walked back up to his room and he shut the door. "Now let me show you how much I love you." He said pushing me back onto his bed. He kissed me softly and pulled off my shirt. I woke up and heard a car door shut. "I think your parents are home." I said. He groaned. "They won't come up here since I've been upset they have been leaving me alone." He said. I nodded and buried my face deeper into his chest. He pulled his comforter further up around us. All of a sudden his door opened. "Lily." Ashley gasped. "Shit." I squeaked. "AUTUMN!" Ashley yelled. "Dad, get out." Tyler screamed. I hid under the covers. "Oh my." Autumn said. "Shut the door please." I whimpered. I heard the door shut and we got dressed. Well I stole some of Tyler's clothes. We headed downstairs to our doom. I hid behind Tyler. "Tyler, you're walking." Autumn gasped. "Yeah, it happened today." He smiled squeezing my hand. I smiled a little. "Autumn, I understand that is a huge thing but let's not forget what I just walked into." Ashley said holding his hands over his face. "I'm sorry." I said softly. "Honey, there is no need to be sorry. We all knew it would happen one day. Did you both at least use protection?" Autumn asked rubbing my back. "Yes mom." Tyler said. I nodded. "As long as you two were safe, I'm fine." She said. "But I will never un-see that." Ashley said. I felt uncomfortable. "Dad, stop it. You're upsetting Lily." Tyler said. "I'm really sorry." I said. "Lily, you don't have to be. I just. It's weird seeing your best friend's daughter and your son in that position. One day you will understand." He said. I nodded. "I am going to go to Lily's house with her. I believe I owe an apology to her dad." Tyler said. His parents nodded. We went upstairs and got properly dressed. We grabbed our bags and headed to my house. Tyler held my hand rubbing his thumb over my knuckles as I drove. I pulled into my driveway and climbed out of my car. We walked into my house. "Dad, there is someone here to see you." I yelled. My dad came up from the recording studio. "Holy shit, Tyler, you're standing." My dad said. Tyler nodded. "I just wanted to apologize for hurting Lily. It was wrong for me to do it. I was just in a dark place and I hurt someone I love." He said. "Apology accepted and by the way your father texted me. No grandchildren." My dad said patting Tyler's back. Tyler's face went ghost white. "We have to go do homework." I said pulling Tyler upstairs. "Door open!" my dad yelled behind us. I groaned. I sat on my bed. Tyler sat down next to me. He smiled and kissed me. He began tickling me and I squealed then began giggling. "Stop it. I'm gonna pee." I squealed. He chuckled and wrapped his arms around my waist. He moved my bangs out of my face. "I am so sorry Lillian. I love you, forever and always." He said. I blushed and kissed his hand then held it over my heart. "This heart beats for you and only you." I said. He smiled. We just lay there as he held me in his arms. I felt someone poke my nose. "Lily, I have to go home now." Tyler said. I tightened my arms around his waist. "No stay." I groaned. "Okay Lily." He said kissing my head. We heard someone coming up the stairs. "Tyler, you're dad is here to get you." My mom said. I groaned. "I guess she wanted you to stay." She chuckled. I felt him nod. "I will see you tomorrow." He said. I nodded. He kissed my cheek and left. I climbed into the shower and got dressed into my PJs. I did all my homework and saw what time it was. My family should be asleep by now. I put school clothes in my backpack and snuck downstairs. I headed out to my car and put it in neutral. I got out of the driveway. I turned on my lights and started the car. I drove to Tyler's and parked my car. I knew his parents would be asleep. I took out his house key and let myself in. I relocked the door and headed up to his room. I found him doing his calculus homework. "I knew you would be here eventually." He said. "Oh shut up." I said placing my bag down. He closed his textbook and cleared his bed off. "New sheets?" I asked. "Yeah, my mom cleaned them." He said grossed out. I chuckled. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my head. "Goodnight my princess." He said. "Goodnight my savior." I said. He smiled. I kissed him softly. He kissed me back. I rested my head on his chest and fell asleep listening to the beat of his heart.
