Chapter 23

Ashton

Chaos.

One word describing the state of everything around me. People shouted, Alphas quarrelled, and I was slumped on the couch in the girls’ house, barely managing to keep my eyes open through the pain and cloudy dizziness of drugs that coursed my body, doing nothing but veiling my thoughts. At least I knew they wouldn’t work for long.

Ever since we came back a couple of hours ago nothing changed. No one could get over the fact that a group of foreign wolves could steal couple of females from the ceremony under the nose of almost every powerful werewolf we had.

Alpha Kyle was possibly the person who took the news the worst, apart from me and my father of course, but we counted as family, my father was like a father to her, and well, while I would say I was like a brother to her a week ago, I was aiming for something entirely different at the moment.

The head Alpha was livid. Not only were two of his own pack members stolen, but the girl his son was after was one of them. I could really not afford myself to be angry over the fact at that time, but I was sure it was going to affect what little esteem I just recently acquired for Cameron.

“Son.” My father said as he set down next to me. The couch slightly squealed under him as he took a better position. “You should head to your room, or better yet, go have those wounds checked. You’ve only taken some painkillers ever since all of you came back. You need rest, and treatment. Now.” He finished with a firm look on his face.

“I’m fine.” I managed to croak out despite the pain talking gave me. My voice was broken and hoarse, it might as well have belonged to a stranger. “I...” I tried saying that I don’t need rest, or treatment, but in that moment my voice broke completely as a wave of nausea and dizziness washed over me. I slightly swayed in place, and my eyes fluttered closed before I composed myself.

“Now, Ashton. Don’t make me repeat myself.” He growled, his eyes slightly glowed as his wolf rose to the surface as he used his Alpha authority to lace his words. I released a low growl that sounded more like a whine as I hoisted myself up, knowing that I could not argue with him.

If I thought the world was dizzy while I was sitting down it was nothing compared to the rollercoaster I experienced standing up. I almost fell before my father caught me, glaring at me and shaking his head. I had a sarcastic comeback for him, unfortunately it was wasted as the nausea overwhelmed me and doubled over.

Seeing my dinner again didn’t make me happy, at all. Unfortunately the half digested food was not all that came out. Blood. It painted the floor and the couch as I tried to steady myself, some of it still dripping down my chin.

I heard a loud gasp from behind, alerting me to the presence I knew pretty well. I managed to turn around, facing my mother and Sydney. I didn’t know which one of the two had gasped, but by the looks on their faces it could have been either.

My sister was by my side in an instant, holding me up as she slightly glared at me. “I’m taking you to the doctor, right now. I don’t give a fuck you want to stay and know what’s happening with Belle, she’s got enough of people worrying about her. And I’m sure she doesn’t want you dead you asshole.” She hissed.

Had it been any other situation I would have laughed, taking the circumstances I could barely roll my eyes, so I merely allowed her to help me out of the room and towards the house we were staying in. There was no one outside, every living soul was crammed into the girls’ house, both for security and so that every wolf could easily be called on by the Alphas.
