Chapter 29

Isabelle

“Did you really have to throw him out?” I asked as Maddie leaned against the door with a grin. “Ya know, maybe I don’t want to sleep with you.”

“Why not? We’re bed buddies,” She chirped skipping over to the bed.

“Maybe I want to be bed buddies with someone else,” I smirked and she gasped.

“I’m being replaced?!” Maddie put the back of her hand to her forehead and collapsed onto the bed. “Oh the agony!”

I scoffed and poked her. “Why don’t you want to sleep with Reece?”

She squinted at me with a devilish smirk. “Well, according to the rules that were written down long before we were born, it states that no female is to have sexual intercourse with an alpha until he has chosen one and so-.”

“I didn’t mean sex, idiot!” I interrupted her. “I merely meant sharing the same bed, like we do every night.” I paused and tilted my head at her. “Come to think of it, when your bed was not broken you still slept in mine, why?”

Maddie shrugged and smiled. “I felt like it.” Sitting up she frowned at my neck. “What’s that?”

I felt my eyes widen a fraction as my hand flew to cover the almost mark. “Nothing.”

“Liar,” she accused tugging my hand away. “Om my god! He tried to mark you!”

“It’s nothing,” I assured her. “He just...ugh leave it!”

Maddie narrowed her eyes at me but did as I said and made no further comment about it. She squirmed on the bed until she was comfortable with the covers messed around her and relaxed.

“How come you didn’t throw Reece out of his room? Why Ash?” I asked sitting on the edge.

“Because it’s fun to annoy Ash,” was her reply before she turned over and promptly fell asleep.

I blinked at her form before shaking my head with a chuckle and leaving the room. I tip-toed down the stairs, not wanting to wake anyone and found Ash on the couch. I stood above him and watched him sleep for a moment before poking him.

“Yes?!” he murmured peeking up at me through heavy eyelids. He looked so adorable and I giggled as his eyes found me. They shot open and he went to sit up. “What are you doing here?”  He asked and I smiled at him, pushing him back as I slipped into the make-shift bed next to him.

“Well, I felt bad making you sleep down here, so I thought I’d join you.” I whispered, cuddling into his warmth.

Ash sighed and grumbled. “And you didn’t consider simply inviting me back up. Actually, chasing Reece out of his room would have been a nice touch too.”

I giggled again at his grumpiness and just cuddled closer, resting my head on his chest as his arms tightened around me.

I would have liked to have been woken gently, maybe a little shoulder shake and my name called. Maddie however can never do anything gently.

“YOU BITCH!!! YOU ARE MY BED BUDDIE!!”
