Chapter 28

Isabelle

In the room I waited until Maddie had settled on the bed and curled up hugging Chunky before I stepped out and quietly shut the door.

I couldn’t stand seeing Maddie cry. Outside the room I leaned my head against the door hearing her soft sobs and clenched my fists. At that moment I hated them with every fibre of my being. I loathed those three, for saying that crap and for hurting my best friend. They needed to be knocked down a peg and I was going to do it.

“Belle?”

I turned slowly, keeping my eyes downcast. “What Annabelle?”

“Are you OK?” Her pink fluffy slippers came into view as she stepped closer to me. “I heard something.”

“Do I look OK?” I whispered and raised my head.

Her eyes flew open, seeing my wolf swirling in mine. I let the rage that was bubbling underneath the surface shine out and Annabelle shuddered at the appearance of my raging bloodlust.

“Go back to bed,” I ordered and she lowered her eyes. “Don’t come out no matter what.”

“Belle,” she spoke to the floor. “Don’t kill them.”

“Why not?” I asked bitterly. “I’m just a wildling after all.”

I didn’t wait for her next comment just brushed past her down the hall to their room. The door was locked and I smirked, hearing them chatter inside. They weren’t even paying attention to their surroundings.

With a quick flex of my wrist the lock broke and the door swung in. Three pairs of annoyed eyes met mine as I stepped into the room. “Room service.”

“Get lost, slut,” Stacy snapped.

I took a tentative sniff of the air and smelt Becky’s blood and their anger but beyond that I caught the seductive scent of fear. They were afraid.

“Why should I?” I questioned shutting the door behind me with a feral grin.

“We’re not scared and if you don’t want to be beaten to a pulp, you’ll leave!” Lacy shouted.

“Lies,” I hissed. “You hurt Maddie. I can’t stand people like you. Acting like you’re better than us when you broke the fucking rules!” I spat at Becky who surged to her feet.

“At least I’m not a slut,” she snarled.

“Correction, airhead you are! You slept with a guy, I’m a virgin. How the fuck can I be a slut then?!” I growled rounding on her henchmen, “And you two. You know nothing of what I’ve been through and you attack my best friend and accuse me of shit I haven’t done! It’s not my fault the alpha’s like us! Maybe they would have chosen you if you were nice and real not shitty bitches with no life who follow orders from Queen Slut over there!”

Lacy charged at me with a yell and I sidestepped putting my hand on her back and shoving her into the closed door. I caught her by her hair and yanked her head back with a snarl. “I hate people who hurt others just for the hell of it. I hate liars. I hate bitches. I hate you!”

I pushed her away from me and into the arms of a trembling Stacy who backed away when I advanced. “You can’t hurt us, not unless you want the Alphas after you.”

“Do I look like I give a shit right now? I don’t give a fucking damn what they do to me, not anymore,” I hissed at her letting her see my wolf who prowled just beneath the little string of control I’d left.
