Diana stomped out to the car and got into the passenger side, slamming the door. Reid followed behind much more timidly, closing the door on the driver side gently. He turned to his girlfriend, who's expression was as cold as ice.
"Don't," she warned him. "No 'it'll be okay', no 'we'll find him.' Please."
He listened to her and stayed silent. They sat there for almost two minutes before Diana asked
him in an irritable voice, "Are we going?"
Spencer glanced over at her, trying not laugh. "Diana, you have the key."
"Oh," she said in a small voice. She slumped over and grabbed it out of her bag, hands shaking.
She sat up and handed the key to him, tears in her eyes. He reached out and grabbed not the
key, but her hand, and a sob exploded from her throat.
"I c-can't do this," she cried, shaking all over. "Why is this happening?"
"I don't know, Diana," Spencer said to her, hugging her as best he could in the car. "I don't know."
After a few deep breaths she had regained control, but she continued to lean into Spencer. He stroked her hair, resting his chin on top of her head. If her cell phone hadn't rang at that moment, she probably would've stayed. She grabbed her phone and answered it without looking at the ID.
"Hello, Diana here," she answered, trying to remain calm. "Sarah? Oh, hi. I know what happened. Yeah. I'm actually here in Chapel, my team was assigned on the case. Probably because...yeah, that's what I was thinking. Oh, really? Okay. I was just told, so I still have around an hour off. Alright, I'll be right over. Love you too. Bye."
"A friend?" Spencer asked, confused. Diana let out a hollow laugh.
"I have no friends, remember?" she joked. "It was my stepmom. She and my little brother-though god, I guess he's not little anymore-are at a friends house, their's wasn't safe. Can we go see them? I-I need my family right now." He nodded and turned on the car. With Diana's guidance, they arrived at a small house in under ten minutes.
They knocked on the door, Diana more or less leaning into Spencer. He gave her a hug from behind and kissed her cheek just before the door opened. Standing behind it was a middle aged woman who, much like Diana, had tear stains on her cheeks. Diana immedeatly threw herself into the arms of the woman, hugging her tightly.
"Oh, Diana," she cried, new tears flowing. "Diana..."
They broke apart after a minute, and Diana returned to the arms of Spencer. "Sarah, this is Spencer, my boyfriend," she said, sniffling slightly. Sarah, despite the situation, smiled.
"Hello, Spencer," she said warmly. "Thank you for staying with her."
"Of course," he replied automatically. They walked inside the house, which was a bit cramped. They stepped into the living room to see two college aged boys, a girl slightly younger than them,
