Ugh. School. The first day of school always sucks. You have those stupid freshman that think they know everything and try to act cool. And the worst of all, is the pep rally to get everyone hyped about highschool. And not only that but Brian, Alex, Jake, and my best friends Jenna and Tay, all volunteered me to sing in front of the whole school for the pep rally.

I get up and scroll through my phone for a bit and decide to actually get ready.

I walk over to the bathroom and take a quick shower while listening to some Paramore. I like to also sing in the shower, so I was in there for a lot longer than I should have been.

I step out and quickly dry my hair and start to straighten it. I part my hair and continue getting ready, by putting on some light makeup.

I slip on a grey tank top and some black skinny jeans that have a rip at both of my knees. I put a leather jacket over and go to the bathroom again, to style my hair. I take lot's of pride in my hair just saying.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

"Jenna what the fuck do you want."

"Easy there Lyndsey, you don't wanna ruin your singing voice."

"Shut the fuck up." I said with a little giggle.

"Anyways, I'm here to pick you up, so we can arrive in style. So we can be cool seniors. Duh."

"Okay, I'll be out soon. Is Tay with you?"

"No we gotta go get her, so get your buns in gear and hurry."

"Okay, okay. Later. Thanks Jenna."

Fast forward

"Bye Mom!"

I walk out the front door to realize it's sprinkling a little. I love rain.

I'm walking towards Jenna's car and she rolls down the window.

"Get in Loser. We're going shopping."

I'm not even at the car yet, but we both drowned ourselves in laughter. I even teared up a bit.

I got in the car and immediately grabbed the aux cord.

"Alright hurry let's get a move on." I said while putting on some Beatles.

She smiled. I knew Jenna and Tay had always had a thing for each other. They just didnt want to admit it. But you can definitely tell. Why they aren't dating I don't know.

You should see the way the talk to each other and just the way they look into each others eyes. It's literally the cutest thing. But they're pussies so.

We finally pull up to Tay's house and she jumps in the back.

"Hey guys. Thanks for picking me up."

Jenna nodded and gave her a smirk through the mirror.

We drove on for a bit longer until the building I hate, is approaching.

Jenna parks her car in the student section. We all step out of the car and fix ourselves before we walk into what I call 'Hell'.

"One more year." We all say.

We walk to the entrance of the school and hang out for a bit, until Jake walks over and suprises me with a giant hug.

"Hey baby. How's my Little Lyndsey doing?"

I rolled my eyes.

"I'm great. Thank you Jake. You?"

I got cut off by the bell ringing.

Ugh pep rally.

I walked quickly towards the gym floor to prepare for my 'solo'.

I quickly walk past freshman who seem to be confused. As well as sophomores and juniors making fun of the freshman. I walk down the stairs where the microphone and the principal was standing.

I see my principal standing there looking cheerfully, as well as all the student council memebers.

I walk across the gym floor and wave towards the principal as I approach him.

"Hey Mr. Johnson. So, since I'm singing, do you know when exactly?"

"Hi Lyndsey! I'm almost positive your supposed go on right away after everyone has arrived. After my speech of course."

"Alright thanks."

"Wait just a minute Lyndsey! I forgot to mention I volunteered you to help out student council with the upcoming freshman as well a couple new students we have. I hope you don't mind."

That little fucker.

"Of course not Mr. Johnson."

I gave him a fake smile and quickly walked away. I don't want to help out freshman, new students I don't mind as much, but I still don't want to do either.

I walked towards the members of student council. April, the student council president was a little preppy ass bitch that thinks she knows the answer to everything, when she really doesn't. In this situation, I need her help though.

"He April. I talked to Mr. Johnson and he said I'm helping you guys with the freshman and new students. Could I just do the new students?"

She smiled big with her bright red lipstick.

"Of course you can Lyndsey! Anyway how you been?"

"Thanks. Listen April, I'd love stay and talk but I gotta warm up my voice for the National Anthem. Sorry bye."

"Oh okay. Bye BFF!"

Ugh. Stupid bitch.

I walked over to the corner to warm up my voice. I must have gotten really into singing because I realized the assembly was about to start. I looked at all 4 sets of bleachers. All the students look like penguin during winter storms. All huddled together.

I looked at the senior section and searched for Brian, Alex, Jake, Jenna, and Tay.

I saw three waves, each from all of my friends. The only two that were missing was Jake and Tay. He was talking to Tay. What the fuck?

"Welcome students! How's everyone feeling today?"

Everyone cheered, but all cared about was why Jake was talking to her. Usually I don't get all defensive but Jake never talks to Tay, like ever. Jake never talks to any of my friends period.

More importantly, why the fuck is Tay talking to Jake. Tay even told me during the summer that she didn't like him. So, why is s-....

Motherfucker

I saw Jake's arm wrap around her. Are you fucking kidding me.

I completely blocked out Mr. Johnson, so I hadn't realized it's almost time.

"Alright students. Please welcome Lyndsey Gunnuflsen!"

I walked over with a cheerful smile. I grabbed the microphone and thanked Mr. Johnson. I felt the microphone in my hands and it completely changed my mood.

"Hey guys! What's up?"

"Can we all give a big thank to our principal, Mr. Johnson?"

"Alright. Anyways, how we doin this morning?"

Cheering

"No, no, no. I said, How we doin this morning!?"

"Alright much better. Anyway, my name is Lyndsey, but you can call me Lynn. I got volunteered by a couple of my friends to sing for you all so I'm going to do just that. So hope you all enjoy."

The instrumentals start and I start the beginning. My voice is a little shaky at first but I get the rhythm. I finish the song with a little flair at the end.

Once I heard the loud cheering coming from the bleachers, I knew, this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

But never mind that. I need to figure out why Jake's fucking arm was around Tay.
