Fire and Water

POV Mizuko

We swim away from the kingdom, my mom and I in the back of the group. She looks slightly sad as we leave the kingdom. Probably because we're leaving dad.

"Are you ok?" I ask her.

She looks at me, snapping out of a small daze. "I'm fine honey." she says sadly.

I think back to my dad and how strange he was after I first met him. He just seemed different. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. A random thought comes to my mind and I spit it out before even thinking.

"Mom, did you ever love someone before dad?" I ask, mentally regretting asking.

She looks at me in confusion. "Where did that come from?"

I look down. "I don't know. I'm sorry."

"It's ok." She tells me. "Actually... I did love someone before your father. But that's in the past. And I love no one more than I do you and your dad."

Mom look at me with a smirk. "What about you, Mizuko? Do you love someone?"

My face turns bright red and I glare at her. "No way!" I say before swimming off quickly.

POV Ruri

Sakura and I swim around playing tag with each other. We had left the Antarctic Ocean earlier today and now we were heading to the South Atlantic now. My kingdom. I couldn't wait to see it.

Just as I reach out my hand to tap Sakura, I hear a scream in the distance. My eyes widen and without thinking I swim toward the voice quickly.

"Ruri!" I hear my mom yell. But I ignore it. I swim a few miles with the girls on my tail and finally I see a large blue palace. But there's something wrong with it.

Fire.

The underwater palace is on fire and I feel something pull at my heart. I stare at the palace in fear. "That's..."

"Hiya!" A childlike girl's voice says behind me. I turn in shock and see a fairy-like girl with green hair and wings smiling at me. "I'm Alala! And you must be the Aqua Pearl Mermaid Princess!"

I stare at her for a moment before working up the courage to ask her the one thing on my mind. "Did you do this to the palace?"

Alala smiles innocently and nods. "Yep! And I've been waiting so I could do the same to you too! Say goodbye!"

Behind Alala, I hear several familiar voices call out. She hears them too and stops for a second.

"Pink Pearl Voice!"

"Green Pearl Voice!"

Within seconds, Hoshi and Sakura come up and float between me and Alala in their idol forms. Alala looks at them for a second before smiling. "You're in my way you know!"

Hoshi turns to me. "Ruri, transform!"

I nod to her, feeling more confident now that they're here. "Aqua Pearl Voice!" I shout. The water surrounding me turns a few shades bluer and spins around me so that I can't see the others. It transforms me into my idol form just before it goes back to a normal shade and fades back into the rest of the water.

I look up at the girls and then back at the palace. "Hoshi, Sakura... I need you to keep her back for a minute."

They smile and nod at me before holding up their microphones at Alala. I swim away quickly and head straight for the burning palace. Mizuko, Kira, and Kazumi catch up to me.

"We'll get the people out." Kira says.

"Thank you, girls!" I say as the three swim off into the palace. I swim above it and close my eyes.
