POV Sakura
My heart is beating so fast, and my breathing is so heavy. What is this feeling?
I wait at the entrance to the balcony at the front of the castle, where I will make my speech. The people that Mom had told me about braided my orange hair down my back and put me in a more festive skirt. It was like a hoop skirt but had no hoop, and was cut like an upside down V in the middle. (A/N: I didn't knoi how to describe this... *under water sweat drop*)
"Sakura?" Mom says to me, concerned. "Are you okay?"
I look up at her with a bit of fear on my face. If we weren't under water, I would've been sweating. "I'm not sure, I'm just... I'm..." The words completely manage to escape me as I choke on what would be tears if you could tell.
Mom shoots her hands up, as if she's never experienced her daughter crying. "Um, I guess if you want to you can have one of the girls come out with you!" She says in a panic.
The way she acts makes me giggle a little. "Y-yeah, sure." I say, scratching the back of my neck with a small smile on my face.
She lets out a sigh and puts her hands behind her back. "Alright then, who should I ask Nikora to go get?"
The image of Ruri smiling at me from the beginning of our trip flashes in my head. "Promise?" Her voice asks.
I look up at mom and smile. "Ruri." I tell her.
She nod and looks over at one of her friends. "Nikora-san?" she calls to a mermaid, just older than her, with long pink hair.
The mermaid who must be Nikora turns to her. "Yes, Princess-sama?"
Mom smiles at her and looks down. "Nikora-san, would you please go get Hanon's daughter, Ruri?"
"Yes, Princess-sama." Nikora nods, turning away. She leaves the room and mom smiles to me.
"Just think!" Mom says happily. "After today we'll have the ceremony, and then we'll get to see the rest of the oceans!"
"Huh? Ceremony?" I ask.
Mom scratches the back of her head. "Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you before we left. Before we leave tomorrow, we have a ceremony where you tell your innermost feelings to Aqua Regina-sama, the goddess of the sea. Traditionally you're supposed to do this when you're 13, but since all of you are older we changed the age to 15."
Hmm... I think. Just tell someone my true feelings... Shouldn't be too hard.
"Sakura!" A voice calls. I turn and see Ruri swimming quickly at me. She grabs my hand and smiles. "How're you doing?"
I laugh nervously. "A little scared."
"Don't be! I'll be right next to you!" She says.
"Sakura, it's almost time." Mom says with a large smile. "Nikora-san and I will go out first. I'll do an introduction then you two will come out and give your speech!"
"Okay..." I hesitate.
Mom and Nikora go out onto the balcony. I stare at them, thinking about what I'm supposed to do. Oh gosh, how do I go about this?
Ruri waves her hand in front of my face. "Sakura! It's time to do your speech."
I blink. "O-oh! Yeah!" We start going out to the balcony, I stand in the front and Ruri stands behind me.
Below me are hundreds of people. My heart rate increases violently. What do I say? What in the world am I supposed to say? Well... let's just see where this goes.
