3. So, first date?

-Hayes Grier-

"What if she doesn't feel the same? Oh my gosh. I'm getting nervous." I said and looked into the mirror that was in the guys' locker room.

"What in the world are you doing, man?" Travis, a friend of mine, said.

Travis and I both play on the football team, plus we live next door to each other, so we basically became instant friends when we met.

"I think I'm going to have my first date." I said and hopelessly ran my hands through my wet hair, trying to make it look nice.

"First date? Like.. Ever?" Travis questioned.

"Ever." I said and nodded my head a few times. "I don't know if it is a date or not though. I mean, I want it to be a date, but I don't know if she feels the same way." I said and sighed as I looked at my reflection.

"Go ask her. I bet cheer practice is still going on right now, so by the time you get out there, they might be finished. Go, man. If she agrees on it being a date, we should stop by your house. Alright?" Travis said and I nodded my head.

I took in a deep breath and slowly began walking out the locker room, and out the back doors.

"Alright girls, we won't have practice tomorrow or Thursday, but the big game is on Friday, so work your little butts off and try to remember the routine. See y'all whenever." Terra said to the cheer squad.

I waited for a moment and walked over to Alyssa, who was talking to Terra at the moment.

"Can I speak to you for a minute?" I said to Alyssa and she turned to face me.

"Yeah, sure. What's up?" Alyssa said and I nervously looked in a different direction.

"About this thing.." I said and Terra looked at us.

"I'll leave you two alone. But first; Hayes, where's Nash?" Terra said and I looked at her for a moment.

"Nash is at home. He's trying to help my mom put the new swing set up for Sky." I explained and she nodded her head.

"And Cameron?" Terra questioned.

"Guys locker room. He'll probably be out in a minute. You can wait in the hallway for him.. Go get 'em, tiger." I said jokingly and Terra rushed toward the door. I looked at Alyssa. "I swear she can not make up her mind." I said and Alyssa giggled.

"Oh?" Alyssa said and raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah. Anyway, about the whole pizza thing. Is it a uh.. A date?" I asked nervously.

"If you want it to be." Alyssa said and I smiled a bit.

"Perfect. Meet you there at 5?" I said and she smiled and nodded.

"Okay. Sounds good." Alyssa replied.

"See you there." I said and she smiled before waving at me then walking away.

I then went back into the locker room and told Travis that it was a date, so we went to my house.

"Wow. Your first date. I figured you'd been on a date by now." Travis said as we walked into my bedroom.

"Nope. Never been on a date. That's why I'm so nervous." I said and he chuckled.

"You'll be fine." Travis said and I rolled my eyes a bit as I changed shirts and started to fix my hair.

"What time is the date?" Travis asked.

"Uh, it's at 5. Why?" I said.

"You better hurry up. Don't want to be late for your first date." Travis said and patted my back. "I'm going home now. Good luck."

I looked at the clock after he left and realized he was right. I quickly grabbed my jacket and put it on before going back downstairs.

"Whoa, whoa. Hayes." Nash said as I reached the bottom stair.

"What?" I said and he pointed to the shirt I was wearing.

"That's mine, isn't it?" Nash said and I looked at it.

"Yeah. Sorry I didn't ask." I said and walked past him, but he stopped me for a moment.

"And did you actually do something with your hair? You usually just leave it as it is.." Nash said and I shrugged my shoulders.

"Yeah. I got to go." I said and Nash grinned a bit.

"Are you going on a date?" He asked.

"Yes. I need to go." I repeated.

"Wow. Okay, I'm trying to take this all in. You are going on a date." Nash said and I glanced at him, then rolled my eyes.

"Bye." I said and went out the door to head toward the pizza parlor.
