-Alyssa Moore-
"It feels good to finally get out of this place. I'm so freaking ready to go home." I said and smiled wide as I reached for my crutches.
"Actually, sweetie. You'll be staying with someone else for the weekend. I have something to attend to, and I don't want you to be alone. Is that okay?" Mom said and I shrugged my shoulders.
"Of course that's fine. Who am I staying with?" I asked and Hayes picked me up bridal style.
"You're going to be staying with one of my great friends. She has a son around your age too. You'll be in good hands." Mom explained to me as we went out to the car.
"Oh? What's her sons name?" I asked.
"His name is Shawn." Mom replied.
"Oh. Okay. I was actually hoping I could stay with Hayes though." I said and buckled my seatbelt.
"Sweetie, I'm sorry. I didn't think about it. I already spoke to Karen, and she has a room ready for you." Mom said and sighed a bit.
"Don't worry about it, it should be cool meeting another person. Besides, Hayes and I can talk on the phone and stuff. And he shouldn't live too far from the house I'm staying at, right?" I said and mom glanced at me for a short moment.
"Actually, you'll be staying with Karen in Los Angeles for the week. That's quite far." Mom said.
"What?! Los Angeles? Why?" I asked.
"Because I'm going to Los Angeles for business." Mom explained and I took in a deep breath.
"Mom, can't I just stay with Hayes? I mean, I don't think I could stand being that far from him." I said and mom shook her head.
"No, sweetie. I need to be close to you too. So, I've already packed your bag. We leave tomorrow. Spend as much time with Hayes as possible, because it's going to be a long week." Mom said and I looked at Hayes.
"I don't want to go." I pouted and started clinging to Hayes, hoping it would convince my mom to let me stay.
"Clinging to your boyfriend is not going to convince me to let you stay, Alyssa. Please just cooperate." Mom said and I sighed, leaning my head on Hayes' shoulder.
"He's not my boyfriend, mom. We're just.."
"Maybe that can change, though. Right? I mean, I could be your boyfriend.." Hayes said and I looked at him.
-Hayes Grier-
Alyssa's mom looked back at me when I said that to Alyssa. We were at a stoplight and her mom was quite pleased that I asked Alyssa out. But, she was also giving me a warning look.
I knew what she was trying to say. She was trying to warn me that if Alyssa says no, it's not that she doesn't love me, it's just that she's scared.
"Wh-what?" Alyssa said, putting her hand over her mouth.
"I was just thinking.. Maybe you could be my girlfriend.. So?" I said, biting my bottom lip.
"Um, I.." Alyssa stammered for a moment. "How about you give me some time to think? Like, by the time I'm back from California, I'll give you an answer. Yeah?" Alyssa said and I nodded.
"That's completely fine with me." I said and she smiled a bit. "I can wait as long as you need."
"Thanks, Hayes. Anyway, let's just hang out before tomorrow, yeah?" Alyssa said and I nodded.
"Yeah. We could watch movies if you want." I said and she smiled.
"I'd love that."
