-Hayes Grier-

"Mom, can I borrow the car?" I asked mom as I ran in her room.

"Why?" She questioned.

"I'm going on a date tonight." I said and mom shook her head.

"You're fifteen, Hayes. You only have your permit. You can only borrow the car if someone else rides too. Someone who has a license." Mom said and I nodded my head.

"I'm picking her up. She's 16, she has a license." I said and mom sighed.

"But to drive to her house.."

"I won't get pulled over or anything, it'll be fine. Please mom." I said and she thought about it for a moment.

"Fine. Go ahead. But be careful." She said as she gave me the keys.

"Thanks. Got to go." I said and went outside to get in the car, then drove to Alyssa's house.

When I got there, I got out of the car and knocked on the front door. Alyssa opened the door and I smiled when I saw her.

"Ready to go?" I asked.

"As ready as I can be." She said and I nodded my head.

"Then let's go." I said and she smiled before stepping outside and shutting the door behind her.

I walked to the car and opened the door for her, then got in at the drivers side after she got in, then I drove to Pebble's Skating Rink.

"So, have you ever roller skated?" I asked her as we I opened the door for her, and she looked back at me.

"Well.. Successfully; no. Attempted to; yes." Alyssa said and I chuckled a bit as we both walked in.

"Oh gosh. What happened?" I asked.

"Let's just say.. My butt was hurting for two whole weeks." She said and I laughed softly as I walked to the counter to pay.

"Oh gosh. Well, I'll make sure you don't fall. What size skates do you need?" I asked.

"My shoe size is a six." She said and I nodded before telling the worker what we needed.

"You'll be fine. Just trust me. Alright?" I said and she nodded. "If you need to, you can hold onto me."

"Okay. Thank you, Hayes." She said and I smiled a bit as we changed from our shoes to the skates.

-later on-

"You think you got the hang of it now?" I asked and she nodded. "You do? You want me to let go now?"

"I think so." She said and let go of my hand, and tried to skate around a bit without me, but she fell.

"You okay?" I asked and reached for her hand to help her up.

"Uhh, yeah. Sure." Alyssa said and I glanced at her as I let her balance on me.

"You sure?" I asked and she shook her head.

"No. I uh.. My foot doesn't feel too good." She said and winced a bit as she tried to stand. She held onto me a little tighter.

"Do I need to take you to the hospital?" I asked and she shook her head.

"No. No, I'll be fine. I uh.. I don't need to go to the hospital." Alyssa said and I nodded my head.

"You want to get out of here?" I asked and she nodded her head.

"Okay. Let's go." I said and started to skate toward the carpeted area.

"Ow, ow. Okay, that hurts." She said as she tried to follow me.

"Here. I'll carry you." I said and picked her up as I reached the carpeted area.

"Thanks." She said as I set her down and put my shoes back on.

She carefully put hers back on and I grabbed her hand.

"Are you sure that you don't need to go to the hospital?" I asked and she sighed.

"I'll be fine. Can you take me home?" She asked and started limping toward the door.

I came up behind her and picked her up, carrying her out the door.

"What are you doing?" She asked.

"Taking you to the hospital." I said and she sighed.

"I don't want to go." She protested as I put her in the car.

"Too bad. You need to." I said and got in, and drove to the hospital.

Once we arrived, I took her in and got her signed in to see the doctor.

"I'm not feeling too good about this. Maybe we should just go home. I can just ice my foot or something and it'll be good by tomorrow." She said and looked at me as we waited for the doctor to call her back.

"I think it's best to see the doctor." I said.

The doctor came and got her, and let me come too.

-about an hour later-

"This sucks." Alyssa said and sighed as she wobbled out the door.

"Having to wear that huge ankle brace?" I asked.

"Yeah. The doctor called it a boot, though." She said and I nodded.

"True. Anyway, I'm sorry that the date didn't go as planned, and you got hurt." I said and she smiled a bit.

"It'll be okay. I actually had fun up until the end. It was a great date." She said and kissed my cheek. "But, I hate that the doctor told me not to cheer."

"I'm sorry about that.." I said and she shrugged her shoulders.

"I've always been a rebel anyway. I don't think it would hurt to do it just at the game friday." She said and I shook my head.

"That won't be a good idea." I said.

"It'll be fine." She said.

"Promise me you won't do it?" I said and she sighed.

"I promise." She said, then leaned forward, and kissed me.
