-Alyssa Moore-

I woke up to my alarm blaring and realized I was going to be late. I quickly got out of bed and got a shower, then got dressed and did my hair and makeup, then grabbed my stuff and ran out the door.

"Forgot the keys!" Mom called out.

"Toss 'em!" I said and peeked my head in the door, as well as one of my hands so I could catch the keys.

I then drove to school and parked in the same parking space I had parked in the past two days, then went inside and went straight to my locker.

"Hey, cheerleader."

I turned around and saw Hayes' friend standing there.

"Hi, uh.."

"I'm Cameron. I'm sorry about last night's mishap. Matt didn't tell me that you and Hayes were on a date, or I wouldn't have come." He said and I shrugged my shoulders.

"Don't worry about it, Cameron. But thank you. I'm Alyssa." I said and Cameron smiled.

"Ah, nice to meet you. I've got to get to class now, so.." Cameron said and I nodded.

"Alright. I'm going to class too." I said and grabbed a book out of my locker and went to class.

About five minutes after class started, I felt someone tap my shoulder.

I turned around and saw that the girl was holding a note.

She then handed the note to me and I opened it.

Second first date? -Hayes

I looked toward the back, where Hayes was sitting, and took it into consideration.

Let's wait.

I then passed the note I wrote back and told her to pass it until it gets to Hayes. I watched to make sure he got it, and I saw him read it.

"Why?" He mouthed.

"We need to focus." I replied.

"On what?" He mouthed.

"I need to focus on cheer, you need to focus on football. The big game is in just two days." I said and turned back around.

"Miss Moore, could you please stop talking and listen to me?" The teacher said.

"I'm sorry, Miss Campbell." I said and sunk down in my seat a little.

"So, back to what I was saying." Miss Campbell said and continued speaking.

Class seemed like it went on forever, but when it finally let out, I quickly got up and exited the room.

"Alyssa." Hayes called out and caught up with me.

"Hayes, I have fifteen minutes to get to my next class, and I have to stop by my locker first, then I will have somewhere around ten minutes to get to class." I said and looked at him.

"I really want to try again." Hayes said and I sighed.

"I tell you what.. If you still want to try that date again by the time the game is over on Friday, pick me up at 8 on Saturday night. If not, cool. I have to get to class now." I said and walked away.

-later, at Alyssa's house-

"So, Hayes asked me out again." I said to mom as we ate dinner.

"Great! What did you say?" Mom said.

"I told him to wait. But he kept insisting. So, I told him that if he still wanted a date by the time the game is over on Friday, that he should pick me up at 8 on Saturday." I said and she glanced at me.

"Do you want him to want it?" Mom asked.

"I don't know. I just.. I have bad luck with dates, and I need to focus on school and cheer. I mean, I'm a junior.. I need to focus in school, and Terra won't be here next year and she told me she wants me to be the head cheerleader after she graduates. I won't really have time for dating anyway." I said and mom laughed softly.

"You've had straight a's since third grade. I think you're good. And as for the cheer thing.. That's next year. I want you to call Hayes, and I want you to tell him to pick you up at 8 tonight." Mom said and I sighed.

"Fine. Only for you." I said and she smiled.

I grabbed my phone and dialed Hayes' number.

"Hello?" Hayes answered.

"Hey. I uh.. I changed my mind. How's tonight at 8?" I said and mom smiled at me.

"Oh. Um, sure. I'll definitely pick you up at 8. I'll take you to the skating rink." He said and I widened my eyes. I can't skate, I always fall.

"As in roller skating?" I asked.

"Yes." He replied.

"Sure.." I said nervously. "See you then."
