Everything was pitch black. The screaming got louder with every step I took. I couldn't see anything. Ear-shattering yelps came from every angle. Who was it?

I sat up quickly, feeling hot in temperature. I wiped the sweat off my forehead with the back of my hand, checking the time: 8:27 A.M.

"What the hell?" I whispered to myself. I don't understand it? How did I sleep through the whole night, though it felt as if my head just hit the pillow two seconds ago?

I opened the curtains, the extremely bright sunlight shining directly into my eyes. I lied back down, staring straight at the ceiling for at least 10 minutes.

I checked my phone, seeing I had 17 new messages, 8 of them from Luke. "You annoying little shit," I said as I checked them. Most of them consisted of 'can you come to band practice at 11?' and 'are you coming or not.'

I decided to text back, telling him I'll come. I started to put my things in my band backpack. My writing notebook, pencils, a few pics and a capo.

I didn't know whether which guitar to bring, so I texted him again.

M: Which guitar should I bring?

L: Idk just bring both just in case.

M: okay see ya soon

L: ditto

I groaned loudly, as I put my acoustic guitar in its sleeve, followed by the electric one in the other. After, I got my usual black skinny jeans, boxers, and a Green Day tank and walked to the bathroom, turning on the shower.

I let the water warm before undressing and stepping in. I stood in place, letting the water run over my semi-cold body before shampooing and conditioning my hair, then washing my body off.

I combed through my hair with my fingers before turning off the water and drying off with a towel and stepping out. I dressed myself, and stood in front of the mirror for at least 5 minutes, trying to make my hair look the way it usually does.

I walked back into my room, finding socks and my black Converse, and put them on. Mentally cursing myself, I went back to the bathroom to put deodorant and brush my teeth. What it felt like for the millionth time, I walked into my room, grabbed everything and walked downstairs, outside and into my car, loading everything in.

On my way to Luke's house, I stopped at McDonald's to get breakfast. I quickly ordered my food, and sat in the far corner to eat. After ten minutes, I threw away my trash and exited the place, stopping for a few minutes to take pictures with the fans that were there.

Back on my drive to Luke's, I made it within 10 minutes. It was 10:03 by the time I got there. I grabbed my bag and both guitar sleeves and knocked on the front door, waiting patiently. A trample of footsteps were heard, as a flat haired Luke opened the door for me.

"Thanks," I said walking in behind him and closing the door. As he skipped his way up the stairs, I went down in the basement to set my stuff down. I chose the far corner and sat on top of the amplifier.

The doorbell rang a few times, and I could hear Luke yell, "It's open!" from the upper level. It opened, and I assumed it was either Calum or Ashton. It was actually both of them. They came down, Ash in front, setting up their stuff. Since his drumset was already here, he just came with his drumsticks in hands. Calum, bringing his bass.

Luke, almost tumbling down the stairs came a few minutes later. His face red from laughing at the near incident.

"Sup, lads," Ashton said, sitting on his drum stool and warming up his arms. A mix of "hi"s and "hey"s said by Calum, Luke, and I.

I pulled out my acoustic and continued to try to create a pattern for my new work in progress. I definitely didn't want it to sound happy. I tried playing random chords in a specific order as they set up for practice.

After maybe 10-15 minutes, I found the perfect sound. In my head, I was singing the first few lines I've written, trying to make it match.

"New song, Mikey?" Cal asked, striding over to me, bass over his shoulder. "Yeah," I said sighing. "I've only written a few lines, though. You wanna write this one with me?"

"Yeah, sure. Lemme see what you've got so far," he said grinning. I took out my notebook, flipping to the page and handing it to him. I watched his face as he read what I have, and it did change completely.

"Damn, you always write those emotional ones. You okay there, bud?" He asked, slinging an arm around my shoulder.

"Yeah.. I'm fine," I remarked. "So are you going to help me out with this or what?"

"Indeed I will, Gordon," he smirked.

"Shut up, Thomas," I laughed. He grabbed a pencil from my bag, laying on the floor with my notebook in front of him. I did the same, and we took turns writing.... Band practice didn't even start til 3 P.M., due to us trying to write it.

"So what's this new song called?" Ashton asked.

"Jet Black Heart," Calum and I said at once. As he and Luke read it, we tried to harmonize the bass and chords together.

When Luke finally memorized his lines, we tried playing together. And let me tell you. It wasn't so good. Since we don't know how to finalize it, it sounds pretty crappy.

"Now I'm holding on for dear life,
There's no way that we could rewind.
Maybe there's nothing after midnight,
That could make you stay," Luke said aloud. "What does that even mean?"

"It means a lot of things. Think about it," I said as I quietly strummed the main chords.

"This one's going to be a hit," Calum says, joining me.

"You really think so?" I asked.

"Yeah, I do. Well, once we finish it," he pointed out. "I mean, Lukey still doesn't know what it means."

"Ehh, I think he'll get it sooner or later," I shrugged. "I just hope it sounds nice."

"Oh it will. Once we know how to play it, I think everyone will go wild," Calum says smiling wildly.

"Thanks, Cal," I said grinning.

"No problem. It's a really good song, though. I just hope our fans don't misinterpret it for something else," he said playing random strings as Ashton started drumming.

"Yeah, me too..." I whispered to myself. "Me too."

A/N that was HORRIBLE, I'M SORRY. Idk what happens when they write, so I just made this up. Jet Black Heart is an amazing song though. If you haven't heard it yet, I suggest you do it now. Thanks for everything!! Love you guys,, and sorry for not updating. I've been super busy lately. Hope you're all okay,, stay awesome!
