Ered Luin, 2699

It was a spring day, as a Dwarf and his wife, whom is human/elf, are standing outside their home, arguing, alongside with many  other dwarves gathered around the area, observing the domestic dispute.  The couple's name is Forn and Gynna Firebeard, and they are arguing over their newborn daughter, Nathaniela.  "She cannot stay here, she is half bred! The two of you have to leave Ered Luin at once!" snapped Forn.  "But what about our marriage? What about us? Our family! Can't you put your cultural differences aside?" pleaded Gynna.  "I'm sorry, love-I have no other choice!" said Forn.  "Can't we just live a few miles away, so we can still see you?" asked Gynna.  The grey haired dwarf stood and thought over his wife's words.  "How about this, go to Bree, and live there! I promise you I will come and visit you and Nathaniela whenever I can!"  said Forn.   And so that night, Gynna packed her and Nathaniela's belongings, and the Human/Elf departs from Ered Luin, and making her way to Bree.

Years went by, as Gynna and her daughter lived peacefully in the Village of Bree.   As Nathaniela had grown older, she had become one of the most beautiful maidens in Bree, however she was quite a handful and quite challenging to Gynna.  Nathaniela always wanted dress in her own fashion, and loved following her own rules, much to her mother's annoyance.  Gynna wanted Nathaniela to grow up to become a fine young lady and to live by human/elf standards, which she kept that a secret from Forn.  However, Nattie, as her friends call her for short,  rather live her life as a dwarf, and she wanted to learn to fight like a dwarf as well.  Nattie had begged her mother to buy her a bow, but Gynna refused.  "No daughter of mine will be fighting or using weapons!" snapped Gynna, firmly.  "But Amad! Please let me take archery lessons! I've always wanted to use the bow!" Nathaniela pleaded. "I SAID THE ANSWER IS NO!" boomed Gynna.  "Yes, mother." grumbled Nattie, as she went to her room.

Days went by, when all of a sudden Gynna had feel very ill.   Nattie had realized she had to take up responsibility now that her mother became very ill.  She had sent for the village healer, as he came to examine Nattie's mother.  After he examined Gynna, the Healer looked up at Nattie gravely.  "I'm afraid, Miss Nattie, your mother hasn't much time to live!" said the Healer gravely.  "What?! Are you telling me she's dying?!" Nattie cried out.  "I'm afraid so, my dear!" The Healer replied.  "No! No! My mother is not dying!! You're lying!!" screamed Nattie, angrily.  "Why would I be lying, child? Your mother is on the brink of death! Look at her!" the Healer snapped back at the young woman.  "My dearest-cough--child--Go to Ered Luin, and bring your father here to me! I---I--wish to see him!" said Gynna weakly, gasping in between breaths. "But Mother!" protested Nattie.  "Just go! Please!" pleaded Gynna.   Tearfully, Nattie packed her belongings as she prepared her journey to Ered Luin to send for her Father, Forn.   After packing everything, and loading her pony, she set out on her journey to Ered Luin.

Several Days later..

Ered Luin

Nattie arrived in Ered Luin, one week later, and she approached the home of her father, Forn, and was about to knock on the door when two dwarven women and one male dwarf approached her.  "And just what in the hell do you think you're doing?" snapped the first dwarf woman with red hair and green eyes, whom appeared to be middle aged.  "I'm visiting my father? What of it?" Nattie replied. "You're a Half Breed! You're not welcome here! Especially with you having ELF blood in yoru veins!" snarled one of the male dwarves.  "You cannot tell me what to do!! I wanna see my father!!"  Nattie shouted angrily at the dwarves. "Your father isn't here! He went out on a hunting excursion!" said the second dwarf woman, coldly.  "Now take your things and leave here at once, or we will make you leave!" demanded the second male Dwarf.  "FINE!!" Nattie screamed as she mounted her pony, and she left, weeping hysterically as she rode.   Not only Nattie felt sad at the thought of her father not being there, but angry and enraged as well---it wasn't only that she felt angry at the way she had been treated by the Dwarves in Ered Luin.

One way or the other, I'm going to find my father, I don't care what those sand blasted imbeciles say! thought Nattie.  First, Nattie decided to make her return journey to Bree to check up on her mother.   By night fall,  Nattie arrived in Bree, and headed straight to her home.  By the time she entered the home, she discovered she was too late-her mother had died, and she could see her father already there, bent over her, weeping.  Suddenly, as he saw that Nattie arrived, he stood up, and he angrily glared at her.  "You stupid little bitch! Where in the hell were you! Your mother here was dying! And what did you do? Go out follicking in the wild!" shouted Forn, angrily.  "I went to look for you, Father!! That's why I Left! Why weren't you there?!"  Nattie shouted back, angrily. "I was just coming to pay you and your mother a visit, and when I arrived, I found your mother lifeless on the floor!! How could you turn your back on your mother!" bellowed Forn.  "I didn't turn my back on her!!" Nattie screamed in rage.  Suddenly, Forn raised back his hand and struck his daughter twice across the face.

"You will never be forgiven for this child! You are no longer welcome here-unless if you choose to stay here, you'll become my slave!" snarled Forn. "SLAVE?! I thought you never believed in slavery father?!" shouted Nattie.  "And who do you have the right to speak an opinion! Pipe down, child, or I will strike you again! Now drop your things and get supper started!!" barked Forn.  "Yes, father!" grumbled Nattie, as she went into the kitchen to start supper.   Things have gotten much more worse as days went by.  Her father became more aggressive, and more abusive towards Nattie.  He would refuse to her her go outside, he would keep her indoors and her would find her things to do, and one of those things had crossed the line to her.  And it was that night, after that horrible ordeal happened to her, Nattie decided to leave and go out on her own, and to never look back.   Nattie however had to plan carefully so he would father wouldn't catch her leaving.

One night, Forn had left to go to the pub, and it was the perfect opportunity for Nattie's escape.  After Forn had left,  Nattie packed her belongings, and she went to her pony and she left Bree, without looking back.  And she realized she felt scarred for life, after her horrible ordeal with her father.    It's time for me to start a new life, tomorrow is a new day!  thought Nattie.
